Definition: Grooming is when an adult or older individual builds a relationship with a minor or vulnerable person with the intent to manipulate, exploit, or abuse them. Grooming often involves gradually gaining trust, isolating the minor, and creating secrecy. 

 Examples of grooming behaviors include (but are not limited to): 

 ● Giving special gifts, money, or privileges to one player. 

 ● Encouraging secrecy or private communication (texts, social media, calls) unrelated to soccer activities.

 ● Isolating a player from teammates, parents, or other adults.

 ● Inappropriate physical contact or boundary violations (lingering touches, unnecessary hugs, wrestling). 

 ● Discussing personal or sexual topics with a minor. 

 ● Offering transportation, sleepovers, or private meetings without parental consent or team transparency.

 Policy:

 ● Grooming behaviors are strictly prohibited at Austin County Flag Football. 

 ● All staff, coaches, and volunteers must maintain appropriate professional boundaries with players at all times.

 ● Private, one-on-one communication or interaction with a player outside of approved club channels (email, team platforms, team events) is not permitted without parental knowledge and approval. 

 ● Gifts, favors, or special treatment for individual players are not allowed unless they are part of an inclusive team activity. 

 ● Any attempt to develop secrecy, favoritism, or private relationships with a player will be treated as misconduct and may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal and referral to law enforcement. 

 Reporting: 

 ● Concerns about grooming or boundary violations must be reported immediately to the ACFF Board (or designated staff). 

 ● Reports will be taken seriously, investigated promptly, and handled confidentially to protect the well-being of players and families
