How do I determine my child's league age?
PCGSL offers softball to girls ages 4 – 14 according to Little League birthdate/age rules. Visit https://www.littleleague.org/play-little-league/determine-league-age/ to use the Little League age calculator to determine your child's league age for the current season.  For our fall season, we use the Little League age requirements for the following spring season (so your child will be prepared to play during the spring season, allowing for growth and development).  All girls are required to play in their age-appropriate division.

Where are your PCGSL fields located?
Sara Law Memorial Softball Complex
4801 Reedy Branch Rd.
Winterville, NC

When are games usually played?
Games for the Fall Season typically run from late September through the end of October. Games are played on weekdays, M-W and occasionally on Thursdays (if we have rainouts).

*Game schedules may need to be adjusted throughout the season due to weather, field conditions and other reasons. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility.

What is the typical practice schedule during the season?
Practice will be set by the head coach once teams and rosters are established. Typically, we encourage (2) practices a week, on weekdays, up until games begin. Coaches are able to schedule weekend practices if fields are available.  Weekday practices are either at 5:30 or 7, lasting 1.5 hours.  Weekend practices can be up to 2 hours.

How are teams created?
The 6U teams are always formed at random to balance age and years in league.  In the 6U division we try to honor requests but can’t guarantee all. In the 8U/10U/12U Divisions, teams are formed based on player evaluations and a player draft conducted by the coaches, after evaluations take place.

Special Requests:
The League Board may consider a written request from a player’s parent (or legal guardian) for that player to be excluded from a particular manager’s team.  Such requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis when received prior by the League Board of Directors, prior to the draft.

To protect the integrity of the drafting process, all players not pre-identified as protected will be drafted.

Players may not request being placed on a specific coach’s team.  This includes team sponsors who wish their child to be on a specific coach’s team.

Evaluations:
All registered players in 8U – 12U shall attend evaluations each year.  This includes sponsor daughters, travel ball, school ball and girls who have played in the league for years.

Players unable to attend evaluations will be placed on teams at the end of draft in order of their ages by a blind draw unless all coaches agree to allow her name to remain in the draft list.

Evaluations consist of hitting, fielding, throwing, running bases. If designated a pitcher/catcher you will have designated time for evaluating that skillset, even as a beginner,

What equipment/uniform items are needed?
Jersey, belts and socks are provided by PCGSL.
Players will need the following:
Bat, glove, helmet, fielder’s mask, cleats. Pants- will be determined by Team/Coach.
