The K-2nd grade coed basketball program is a recreational league run by STM parent volunteers and is open to both STM students and parishioners. The program is eight weeks long, one hour each week, Friday nights only, and starts January 5th. Each Friday there is a one-hour session that is broken into two segments: 30 min practice followed by a 30 min scrimmage with the opposing team. The overall goal is to introduce basic basketball skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting the ball while also providing an opportunity to compete at an introductory level.

 

Registration begins Friday, November 1st and closes Sunday, December 1st. This program fills up quickly, so prompt registration is encouraged. Volunteer coaches and their children receive priority.

The League is split into two groups and each group is capped at 40 total players. 

Since we do not hold tryouts we ask parents to self-evaluate their player as follows:

1 = beginner

2 = some experience

3 = average

4 = improving

5 = advanced

 

In short, if you have a 1st grader that is a good player and you would like to challenge them, it is appropriate to specify Group B during registration. 

 

A $10 refund fee will be charged for cancellations before the registration closing date of 12/01; a $25 refund fee will be charged for cancellations between 12/02 and 01/10; and no refunds will be allowed after 01/10.

PARENT RUN PROGRAM:  All STM Athletic Ministry programs are run by active parent volunteers. We have a Program Director and Athletic Director who help administer the program but the actual coaching is all done by parents. Parent participation is encouraged and you will enjoy the program more as you become active with the children.
