LMSA Recreational Soccer

LMSA's Recreational Soccer Program focuses on offering youth soccer opportunities in a balanced, fun, and competitive setting. LMSA Rec Soccer is committed to the enjoyment and development of soccer players without the emphasis on travel or high level competition.  Each player is given the opportunity to develop his or her soccer skills in way of practices and in games as players are organized onto a team of all skill levels. LMSA offers two recreational seasons, one in the fall and one in the spring. 

Recreational Leagues are administered at the local level that emphasize open participation and player registration, and employs a system of rostering players for the purpose of creating a fair and balanced distribution of playing talent among all participating Teams, and where each player plays at least one-half (1/2) of each game.

Recreational Soccer Program Available for Players born 2021-2011.

SPACE IS LIMITED FOR EACH DIVISION-If a division meets its capacity (i.e. full) , players will then be placed on the waitlist. Some divisions may start their waitlist before the close of registration.

Fall soccer season runs from end of August to November (before Thanksgiving).
     **Some players/teams will have the opportunity to participate in post season tournament that will take place in December and January.

Games are played on SATURDAYS.
**Game days for U14 division may be played on Saturday and/or Sunday. May require some travel for AWAY games. 
**If we do not have enough registrants for our U12 division, teams will be required to travel for AWAY games as well and game days may be played on Saturday and/or Sunday.  

Fall registration includes: Uniforms /Player Insurance/Standard Picture Package/End of Season Award 

Non-La Mirada Residents are subject to a $15 non-resident fee per registration. 
**IF RESIDENCY IS BELOW 75%, SOME NON-RESIDENTS MAY BE REFUNDED (less Cal South Membership fee and service fees) TO MAINTAIN CITY MANDATED RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS.

Fee Required by our governing body Cal South for each registrant.
  • Cal South Membership Fee of $12 will be added to your cart at the time of checkout.  THIS FEE IS NON-REFUNDABLE.
  • Membership fees goes directly to Cal South and does not stay with LMSA.
IF YOU CANCEL YOUR REGISTRATION: Cal South Membership Fee AND Service Fees are NON-REFUNDABLE

REQUIRED SNACK BAR BUY-IN
Teams will be required to participate in LMSA's Snack Bar Buy-In of $50 per team.
Funds collected will be used to support the snack bar through-out the season.

U5 & U6 Divisions
U5 and U6 divisions may be combined if registration numbers are low.

U12 & U14 Divisions
Due to the number of registrations in these divisions, players may have to play in the JUSA or Inter City league and may be required to travel for AWAY Games. Away games will be in neighboring cities such as Anaheim, Whittier, Placentia, Yorba Linda and possibly Long Beach.  Divisions and teams playing in JUSA or Inter City Leagues are responsible for paying referee fees for AWAY games. 

**YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE YOUR CHILD'S TEAM ASSIGNMENT UNTIL EARLY TO MID-AUGUST **

Coaches and Team Parents/Managers
Our soccer program runs on the strength of its volunteers and the support of parents, family and the community. All of our coaches and team parents are volunteers. In order for all of our registered players to participate and get on the pitch, each team requires a head coach.
**If we DO NOT have enough volunteer head coaches, we may need to turn players away.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
  • Our program is not a drop off program. Parent/guardian must be on the premises during practices.
  • If you have more than one child in our soccer program, please note practices for your children may not be on the same day, same time and/or same location (i.e. Jane has practices on M/W and Brandon has practices on T/Th; OR Jane has practices at 5:00-6:00pm and Brandon has practices from 6:30-7:30pm).
  • Practice days/times are determined AFTER all teams have been formed and each team has been assigned a head coach.
  • There are NO SPECIAL PLAY REQUESTS ("To play with_______________" AND/OR "To play for ____________"), ONLY coach freezes
  • Requests will be considered at the discretion of the board and our director of players. 
TEAM ASSIGNMENTS
  • All recreational teams are balanced as much as humanly possible to ensure all teams are competitive.
    • U8 and U10 division players are required to attend Evaluation Day (see scheduled date below). 
  • Players will be assigned to a team by mid August at the latest.
  • You will not know your child's practice schedule until AFTER it has been selected by the head coach.
  • Once teams have been finalized, coaches will be given their roster AND will contact parents directly regarding practice day(s)/time(s).
  • If we do not have enough volunteer coaches, we may have to cancel players from our fall soccer program.
  • IF LA MIRADA RESIDENCY IS BELOW 75%, SOME NON-RESIDENTS MAY BE REFUNDED (less Cal South Membership fee and service fees) TO MAINTAIN CITY MANDATED RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PRACTICES
  • Practice days/times are determined after all teams have been formed and each team has been assigned a head coach.
  • Team soccer practices are based on the schedule selected by the head coach (M/W or T/Th).
  • Please keep in mind practices may start as early as 5:00pm or as late as 6:30pm.
  • U5 and U6 Divisions practice once a week. Some coaches may opt to practice twice a week.
  • U10 and up have practices twice a week.
  • Lil Kickers practices are held on game day, 30 mins before the game. Lil kickers have a 40 min time slot, 20 mins practice and 20 mins game time.
POST-SEASON
During the post-season, teams that qualify by placing during the regular season (U10 & U12) may have the opportunity to participate in the Cal South League America Cup. In addition, players from our U10 and U12 divisions may be selected to participate on the LMSA REC ALL–STAR teams. Selected players/teams will participate in the JUSA and/or Cal South Recreational Championship tournaments which are held in December and January.

SPECIAL PLAYER REQUESTS
  • No “Play-Up” requests unless the parent is the HEAD COACH of the team or with approval of the LMSA Board of Directors. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • There are NO SPECIAL PLAY REQUESTS ("To play with_______________" AND/OR "To play for ____________"), ONLY coach freezes.  Requests will be considered at the discretion of the board and our director of players.
  • Player requests must come from the head coach via Coach's Freeze Form.  Freeze form ONLY AVAILABLE FOR U8 and older divisions.
  • 2024 LMSA Fall-Coaches Player Freeze Form must be emailed to our Director of Players via email NO LATER THAN July 18th at [email protected].
  • All requests should be sent to [email protected].

  • 05/01/2024 - Registration Opens

  •  07/12/2024 - Last Day to Request a Refund; NO REFUNDS AFTER THIS DATE

  •  07/13/2024 - Evaluation Day (U8, U10 & U12 players only)
  •  08/19/2024 - Practices will start this week (Practice schedule will be provided BY YOUR HEAD COACH)
  •  09/07/2024 - Opening Day
    **Games will begin early September - End in November *before Thanksgiving)

**Service Fees & Cal-South Membership Fees are NON-REFUNDABLE
