T-Ball Rules for Spring Ball Season
General:
The goal for this league is to introduce the youngsters to the most basic concepts of baseball, doing so in a low-stress atmosphere conducive to learning while downplaying the most competitive aspects of the sport
Weather & Cancellations:
1) The coaches will determine if the field is playable. Make-up games are at the discretion of the coaches.
Home Team: (1st base dugout)
1) Home team will play the outfield first.
2) The home team is responsible for preparing the field for each game. This includes setting the bases and tee, lining and raking the field, doing any general tidying up the field needs.
Time/Innings Limit:
1) Games will be a minimum of 2 innings and no more than 1.5 hours. If both coaches agree, the game can be extended up to 4 innings, time limit permitting.
Scores & Standings:
1) No score will be kept in this division.
2) The number of outs will not be counted; teams do not retire after 3 outs. A side will be retired after every player has had a turn at bat.
Offensive / Batters:
1) A continuous batting order (CBO) will be observed, bat around each inning.
2) The batter is entitled to have as many swings as they need to hit the ball.
3) A player who is thrown “out” at a base, or tagged “out” while running bases, will remain on base, but informed they are out.
4) No base advancement unless the player is the last batter in which all players run the bases until the last crosses home plate.
Defensive / Innings:
1) All players will take the field when on defense (i.e.- outfielders should be in the grass)
2) Positions must be rotated among all players, with all players playing the pitcher’s position and 1st base.
Coaches:
1) The division can use as many parents as possible to help at this age level. When a team is in the field (defensively) four (4) coaches can be positioned in the field. When a team is batting, one (1) coach will be stationed near home plate to assist the batters with the tee.
Umpires:
1) Coach on the field at the Tee controls the game and can ask for help from the 1st and 3rd base coaches.
2) Soft baseballs are used at the T-Ball level.
