What to Expect

The information below is intended to be a general roadmap for the upcoming season. Specific dates and details are subject to change. Please continue to monitor the TYA website and TYA Facebook page for season-specific details.

REGISTRATION

Spring Seasons: Traditionally opens in November and closes in early February. We offer payment plans, military and sibling discounts. Scholarships are available through Every Kids Sports apply on their website by clicking here.

Due to field availability and number of coaches, divisions are capped at a 12 and once reached, the registration window will be deactivated – additional players will not be accepted. Please make sure to register your child(ren) for the appropriate division.

EVALUATIONS

Spring Seasons: Traditionally occurs in late February after registration closes.

Players will be put through various drills to assess a general skill level. This is in an attempt to keep recreational rosters balanced and competitive through TRUE Youth.

GAMES/PRACTICES

Spring Seasons: Practices will start within 3-7 days of evaluation. Games range from early March to early May.

Home games/practices take place at Willowbranch Park. Your coach will inform you of your game and practice schedules once they are finalized across all divisions. You can expect an average of two practices per week before the start of the season. Practice slots do become limited once games are being held. Rec seasons typically consist of 12-14 games but may vary.

FUNDRAISING

In an effort to keep registration costs as low as possible, each season will have a few different fundraising opportunities. Fundraisers in the past have included an online popcorn fundraiser (great opportunity for friends and family who do NOT live nearby to support TYA), 50/50 raffles, golf outings, and more. Your team manager will have additional information each season. Participation in at least one fundraiser is required (unless you opted out during registration). Teams will receive 100% of the money raised to support a team party at the end of the season. Your team manager and/or head coach will have additional details.

Fundraising is a necessary component of a volunteer-based organization. Fundraising, registration, and sponsorship dollars go towards a variety of components necessary for each season, including baseballs/softballs, umpires, uniforms, field equipment, chalk, concession equipment, tractors, utilities, and much more.

CONCESSIONS/FIELD CLEAN UP

Concession stands are open during most games and are run by the TRUE Youth community. Teams are required to provide concession stand support across a few days during each season. Your team manager will have additional information and dates prior to the start of the season. If you wish to opt-out of concession duties, a fee of $25 can be paid during registration.

Although the City of Jacksonville is responsible for cutting the grass at the park, all field maintenance and cleaning is handled by TRUE Youth. Coaches are expected to drag and maintain fields; parents must volunteer at least once throughout the season. Typically, each team will be assigned 2-3 dates throughout the season for park clean-up days. This typically consists of emptying and lining trash cans and trash pickup around the park. Each clean-up day lasts roughly 60 minutes (shorter with the more people who can attend) and is needed to keep our parks clean and safe for the community.
