There are lots of ways to play or watch field hockey in Michigan. From early elementary recreation and education programs, to competitive middle and high school, Michigan has a lot to offer youths who want to play.
Michigan has also seen an increase in adult leagues as well, with opportunities to play pick-up field hockey for fun, or more competitive league play in both indoor and outdoor scenarios. You can play year round in Michigan at any age.A mainstay of field hockey in Michigan has been the robust collegiate play, with three Division I program. It's always worthwhile to watch athletes from around the country and world play in Michigan, see new techniques and watch the advanced play on the pitch! There are also clubs at some universities which are great places to play with good competition.
For those just starting their field hockey play, there are many Discover Field Hockey clinics being run around the state where you can get an introduction to field hockey basics.
U14 plays have many opportunities to play field hockey in Michigan!
Middle School team field hockey has been around for a while in Michigan and is growing. Players in these developmental programs compete with other schools around the state and enjoy playing for their school teams. There is plenty of room for new programs, with several new schools opening up the sport in the fall. It's an exciting time to be a part of field hockey in Michigan schools and there is plenty of room for more schools to play! Middle Schools also have recreational programs and training programs. You can check out the recreational offerings on our calendar and by bookmarking their sites. These are often open to all athletes who wish to sign up.
