Q: What happens at Player Evaluations?

A: Player Evaluations give League Officials and Coaches the opportunity to evaluate players to ensure they are placed in the division that best suits them. This is based on skill level, age & size.  Players will play catch, field ground balls & fly balls, hit and run the bases.

Q: What equipment does my child need for Player Evaluations?

A: Players should bring a glove, hat, athletic cup. If you have a bat and helmet, you should bring that too. There will be spare bats and helmets there for anyone who doesn’t have their own.

Q: Do players get cut or not make a team?

A: No. Metro is an all-inclusive organization. Everyone who registers will be placed on a team. Evaluations are used to assist in determining which level of play will provide the best playing experience for every child.

Q: What is included with my registration?

A: All players receive a uniform, hat and a medal or trophy at closing ceremonies. Also included is a team photograph. 

Q: Will I be required to volunteer?

A: Yes. Metro is a volunteer organization and cannot run without the help of our families. Our Managers, Coaches, Team Parents and Board Members all volunteer their time and energy to make the league the best it can be. Your Team Parent will coordinate the various jobs including snack parent, working the Snack Shack, field prep, scorekeeping & announcing. There are also opportunities to assist during Clean-up day, Opening Day Ceremonies & Closing Day Ceremonies. 

Q: What days will practices be?

A: Practice days are up to the individual Team Managers. If you have a preference to practice on certain days, please inquire about being a Team Manager. Managers are responsible for setting the team practice schedule.  We cannot accommodate requests to be placed on a team that practices on a particular day.

Q: What days will games be?

A: T-Ball and Pioneer play once a week, on Saturday’s and may have a weekday game or two at the end of the year.

Farm plays once a week, on Saturday, for the first half of the season then twice a week, once on a weeknight and once on Saturday, for the second half of the season.

Minors plays twice a week, one weekday game and one Saturday game. There may be times where three games are played in a week. 

Majors plays 2-3 times a week. 

The scheduling of games and the amount of games will slightly vary from year to year and between divisions depending on the amount of teams, if there is an odd or even number of teams, holidays and school breaks. The game schedule is generally released in the first week of March. 

Q: When does the season begin?

A: Opening Day Ceremonies are held in early March (date and time will be announced). Major and Minor games will begin that day. All other divisions will have their first games starting the following week.

Q. How long does the season last?

A: Closing Ceremonies for the regular season will be held in early June (date and time will be announced).

Q: Is there Postseason play or All-Stars?

A: There is a postseason tournament for the winners of the Minor and Major Divisions. That tournament takes place as soon as the regular season ends and lasts 7-10 days. 

Metro forms three All-Star teams from our Major and Minor players. The three teams are 10 & Under, 11 & Under and 12 & Under. Those teams play the All-Star teams from the other Little Leagues in District 44. Those tournaments usually run the week of June through the first week to two weeks of July.
