Q: How do I register my child for an event / season?
Go to the "Registration Info" Tab from the homepage of this website. Select the appropriate event/season you with to register for. If there is not an event available, it just means the registration is not open yet. To find out about upcoming events, give us a call.
Q: What equipment does my child need for club team play?
Required: Stick, helmet, shoulder/chest pad, elbow pads, gloves, mouthguard, water bottle.
Recommended: Cleats, protective cup.
Q: Do I need to buy my own protective gear?
Sticks: For camps and team activities, we recommend that you bring your own stick, but we do have some team sticks available. For those signing up for the club team, we require that each player have their own stick. It is important to have your own stick to practice at home, to understand how it throws, and be able to adjust it and customize it as much as you'd like. We may have some new sticks that we were able to purchase at a team discount, or may be able to purchase a bulk order for a team discount with enough interest. Otherwise you can find sticks at some of the various online locations in the "Helpful Links" page.
Helmets and Pads: We recognize that purchasing a new set of equipment is expensive. You are certainly welcome to purchase your own helmet and pads. However, we have helmets and pads available to rent. We recommend that in the youth program program to rent pads. Let them try out the game, and they may outgrow it quickly enough that it may be cheaper to just rent. However, we do recommend by they time the progress to the high school team that they have their own helmet and pads. If you are going to purchase your own pads, make sure that the shoulder pads are NOCSAE approved so that they will be legal for tournament play. Feel free to contact the coaches for any additional questions.
Mouthguard and Cup: You are responsible for purchasing your own mouthguard which is required. It is not required, but we highly recommend that boys purchase a protective cup and wear it both at practice and at games. You are responsible for purchasing your own cup.
Q: Where and when are practices?
Magic Valley Lacrosse is officially moving to our new home at Legacy Fields. Practices will usually be 3-4 days/week from around 5-7pm. Contact your specific coach for details on practice times.
Q: When and where are games?
Tournaments and games are on Saturdays beginning in April and run through the end of May. As an organization we will decide which locations to participate in. Generally locations will be: Twin Falls, Pocatello, Idaho Falls, Sun Valley, Victor/Driggs. We will work on trying to get some other home and home games with some of the other teams to have a few more events closer to home.
Q: I can't pay the full price for the season. Can my child still join the team?
We love the game of lacrosse and the benefits sports bring to a child's life. We will not turn away a child from playing. We have been working with local partners to help cover some of the cost for athletes who may not be able to pay in full. If this is the case, please, contact one of the coaches and we can work it out. Please don't not play because of the cost.
Any other questions or concerns, please contact any of the coaches, or call our number on the homepage and we'll be happy to answer.
