Spring 2026 NMYSA YOP (Young Olympian Program)

The Young Olympians Program (YOP) serves as an introduction to the Olympic Development Program (ODP). YOP is designed for players in four age groups: those born up to three years below the youngest ODP age group, as well as players of the same age as the youngest ODP group.
 
YOP training will be led by the State Technical Director and ODP coaching staff in a competitive training environment with an emphasis on long-term player development. Training sessions will be dynamic and fast-paced, focusing on 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 transition activities, as well as possession-based games.
 
There will be a strong emphasis on technical development, including dribbling, passing, receiving, and shooting. Coaches will guide learning by asking players questions to encourage decision-making, rather than telling players exactly what to do during play.
 
YOP (Pre-ODP) is recommended for competitive players who are focused and engaged, including All-Star players from recreational programs. This program is not recommended for first-time players.
