Volunteer Organization

QYBA is a volunteer-run organization, and over the past several years we have faced ongoing challenges with having enough volunteers to support our programs. To ensure the league continues to run smoothly, volunteering one time per season, per player is mandatory. Because the volunteer commitment is tied to each player’s participation, the volunteer requirement and any associated fees are per player, not per family.

Last year, we offered families the option to opt out of volunteering by paying a one-time $100 fee per player in lieu of completing three volunteer hours for that player. Unfortunately, approximately one-third of the league neither volunteered nor paid the opt-out fee. As a result, the Executive Board had to make a difficult but necessary decision.

Going forward, families will be required to pay the volunteer fee up front, per player, and that fee will be fully reimbursed once the volunteer requirement for that player is completed. This approach helps ensure fairness across the league and allows us to properly staff league events and operations.
