A native of Eugene, OR, high school ball at South Eugene HS, where he earned all league and all-state honors. He went on to attend Macalester College in Minnesota, where he was a 4-year starter and two-time all conference selection at shortstop. Nate was an All-Midwest-Region selection in 2009, and finished his career with a .371 career batting average. Since graduating in 2010, Nate has been active in the coaching ranks. He was the head JV Coach at Southwest HS in Minneapolis from 2011-2013, spent five seasons as an Assistant Coach at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, and now enters his second season as a Senior Fed coach with JBO. In total, Nate has over a decade of coaching experience. As a mental health professional, Nate’s coaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of the mental side of baseball. Nate believes in cultivating an atmosphere where players aren’t afraid of failure. Nate is passionate about helping young athletes work through inner criticism and self-doubt, so that they can trust and rely on the skills they’ve honed in practice. When he’s not coaching, Nate loves to climb mountains, read a good novel, and play pickup basketball. | Sammy Benbow attended Lewis & Clark College in Portland, where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and History. A four year baseball player at LC, Sammy has experience playing in the Northwest Conference for the Pioneers under head coach Matt Kosderka. Sammy was originally a first baseman before transitioning into an outfield and pitching role in his junior and senior years, which included All-Conference honors in his senior season.
Sammy is originally from San Diego, where he attended Canyon Crest Academy. In his free time he enjoys hiking, working out, and watching his hometown Padres. |
