Frequently Asked Questions

What are the league's age requirements?
Players must be at least 5 years old and no older than 14 years old as of September 1st of that season.

What is the refund policy for Millis Flag Football?
Because there is a great amount of effort and time spent developing the teams, assigning the coaches, ordering equipment and ordering jerseys, Millis Flag Football has a no refund policy.

Can girls play?
Yes. Millis Flag Football is a coed league at all levels.

How are kids divided up age wise?
They are divided up to the following age groups; 5-6 year olds, 7-8 year olds, 9-10 year olds and 11-14 year olds.

What kind of practice schedule will there be?
Coaches are generally given their team rosters about a week or so before the season begins. They should then be contacting parents shortly there after. It's up to the individual coaches to determine practice schedules. Past experience has shown many coaches do 1 or 2 practices a week (some more, some less).

How many players are on a team?
We usually place 8-10 players on each team. This varies based on the number of registered players.

What is involved with preseason player evaluations?
Players are evaluated through participation in drills involving running, passing, and catching. Their performance is recorded and this information is used to try and balance out team rosters as best as we can.

What if my son/daughter is unable to attend preseason player evaluations?
Evaluations are encouraged, but not mandatory. Missing it will not impact player eligibility.

How many games are played?
The season consist of an 8 game season generally spread out over 9 weeks (we usually don't play over Columbus Day weekend unless a rain out occurs before that weekend)

Do I need to provide any special equipment for my player?
The only item required is a mouth guard. All players must be wearing a mouth guard or they will no be able to participate. The league provides jerseys, flags, and footballs. Non-metal cleats are recommended, but are not mandatory.

What if a player forgets his/her mouth guard?
We keep a limited number of new mouth guards on the field for purchase. Please see an on field official for more information.

How long are games and when/where are they played?
We play on the fields located at Clyde Brown Elementary School and in Millis Town Park. Games are roughly one hour in duration on Saturday mornings. One game per week.

Are games played in poor weather conditions?
For the most part: Yes. We play rain or shine. However, if the weather creates an unsafe environment such as lightning or poor field conditions, we may cancel games. If the weather is questionable, please monitor this website or social media for updates.

What are the rules of the game?
We follow the rules as outlined by NFL Flag with a few modifications. See our rules page more information.

How can I volunteer my time to the league?
We can always use help with coaching, officiating, and general league activities. Visit the Contact Us page for contact information.

If I volunteer, do I need to be CORI'd?
If you are 18 years or older and your duties bring you into contact with any of the players for any reason, then Yes! You must be CORI'd. This means all coaches, assistant coaches, officials, etc. Go to the selectman's office in the Millis Memorial building and tell them you'd like to fill out a CORI for Millis Flag Football. Make sure you have your driver's license with you at the time.
