GENERAL INFORMATION

The Montclair Cobras are members of the Big Tri-State, a division of the American Youth Football Association (AYF).  Coach Howard Finney established the Montclair Cobras in 1969.  Our organizatin has a national affiliation with USA Football.  We are proudly one of Montclair's longest running youth programs. In the Big Tri-State League we are comprised of more than 20 programs throughout New York & New Jersey.  The Montclair Cobras are a full contact program and kids participate in 8 levels:

Cobra Cheer

Youngsters from 9 years of age to 13.  Teams will be divided by age.

U13 or Varsity 

 Players 13 years of age and those who turn 14 on or after August 1. No HS students can participate, regardless of age nor can boys who turn 14 before August 1.

U12 or JV 

 Players 11 and 12 years of age and those who turn 13 on or after August 1.

U11 or Pee Wee

 Players 10 and 11 years of age and those who turn 12 on or after August 1.

U10 or Jr. Pee Wee

 Players 9 and 10 years of age and those who turn 11 on or after August 1.

9U 

Players 8 and 9 years of age and those who turn 10 on or after August 1

U8 or 

 Players 7 and 8 years of age and those who turn 9 on or after August 1.

 All Coaches are trained and certified through USA Football and UYFL.  All Coaches must recertify every year.  They are educated on heat disorders, concussion awareness and prevention as well.
