At RSC, we pride ourselves on how our entire membership represents itself on and off the field. To that end, we have developed the following Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct to formally outline the expectations of the club with regards to parental/guardian involvement and behavior at training, games and all related club functions. Simply, we ask that our members BE the example we wish we would see in others.
I WILL BE DEPENDABLE:
- I will provide and disclose all relevant medical and health information to my team coach, in order to help the club provide the safest possible environment for training and playing to take place.
- I will have my child to all practices, games, team and club functions on time (15 minutes prior to practice and 45 minutes prior to games).
- In case of conflict, I will ensure my child’s coach is notified with as much lead time as possible (a minimum of 24 hours is ideal).
I WILL SET A GOOD EXAMPLE:
- I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches and officials, as well as our opponents and their parents/fans.
- I will use appropriate language and demonstrate appropriate behavior at all times (profanity and criticism or disparaging comments about any player, coach or official is strictly prohibited).
I WILL RESPECT THE REFEREE:
- I will refrain from yelling at, arguing with or attempting to intimidate any official.
- I understand that failure to comply with this rule may result in my removal as a spectator for the current match.
I WILL RESPECT THE PLAYING FIELD:
- I will keep a 4-foot perimeter free around the playing field.
- As a spectator, I/we shall remain on our designated side of the field; opposite the benches (never on the coaches’ sideline).
I SHALL NOT COACH FROM THE SIDELINE:
- I understand that instructions coming from both sides of the field sends a conflicted and confusing message to the players.
- I agree that ALL instructions must emanate from the bench and come from the coach.
I agree to SUPPORT on the efforts of our children but will refrain from cueing the players in any way during games or training.
I WILL RESPECT COACHING DECISIONS:
- I will respect the decision of my child’s coach with regards to training method, positional choice & playing time.
- I understand that while every effort will be made to provide my child with sufficient minutes to demonstrate their progress on the field of competition, there may be instances when this does not happen.
- Many factors including but not limited to: previous training/game attendance, training quality, behavior and status of the game will be considered and will influence decisions.
IMPORTANT POINTS:
- Should I have any questions or concerns which arise during training or a game, I agree to provide a 24-hour window of time before addressing said concerns with our team manager and or coach.
- I will not attempt to address the team manager and or coach before or after training unless an agreed upon meeting time has been scheduled.
- I will seek to resolve any concerns, confusion or miscommunications with my team manager prior to involving a Travel Coordinator of the program in the conversation.
- I will follow the RSC escalation procedures found on the RSC website if there’s ever a need to escalate a concern.
Violations of the RSC Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct can result in the offending parent/guardian being removed from the spectator area & possibly banned from attending future games. Continued violations of these policies can result in reduced playing time for your child with the potential for, in extreme cases, suspension/expulsion from the RSC. In the event of suspension or expulsion, no claims for refund will be entertained. Any discipline will be set forth by the Roxbury Soccer Club Board.
