Pima Little Hotshots Registration Page
The Town of Pima Little Hotshots basketball league is a way for kids to start learning the skills necessary to succeed at the game of basketball from a very young age. This league is for 1st - 4th graders, boys and girls. This is not a co-ed league when numbers permit. Girls play girls and boys play boys.
The 1st - 2nd grade league is mostly a pretty relaxed league. We do keep score but the goal of this league is to allow the kids to have fun and figure out the rules of the game of basketball. Basic skills and basketball knowledge such as passing, dribbling defense and shooting will be taught in this league.
3rd - 4th grade - This is a more competitive league...meaning, we do keep score and encourage kids to learn how to be aggressive, work as a team, learn and improve skills and play to win. It's also a progressive learning league. The first game or two are called fairly loosely to allow kids time to adapt to the rules, such as traveling and double dribbles. As the league progresses, so do the expectations from the referees. Also, certain rules are loosened, such as the defense behind the three point line rule.
These leagues are officiated and scores kept by the league director, coaches, parents and HS basketball players, who are also learning how to officiate and run the scoreboards, most being volunteers.
This league typical begins registration in mid February and games begin in March and end in April. Games are played Saturday mornings at the Pima HS gym.
