One of the main rules is schooling comes first.  Students can bring their homework in and show that they have completed it before getting in line (joining class).  If they need help, they get it, either from other Black Belts, parents, or older students. Grand master Henry checks report cards when they come out. Students are encouraged to continue doing well and are counseled on how they can do better Because we don't charge for classes, we occasionally have fundraisers. We do this to raise money to replace equipment and help with expenses related to tournaments. We also ask students to get help from their friends, family, and the community in the way of sponsors for tournaments. Getting sponsors allows the students to engage in a competition which will exhibit the skills they have worked very hard too perfect. No student who works hard at perfecting their skill is ever turned away from tournament competition due to a lack of funds. The Black Belts of Hopkins Tae Kwon Do are eager to help their students in any way they can nd they do. Grand Master & Founder

1950-2018

Gary loved children and enjoyed being a mentor for the youth in the community; he was a Grand Master of Taekwondo for 47 years, but most of all he enjoyed spending time and being around his family and friends.

Hopkins Tae Kwon Do was started in the basement of Grandmaster Gary Hopkins to help lead inner city youth in a positive manner. Grand master Hopkins never charged for lessons and later registered as a not-for-profit school. Many of h is students have gone on to earn their black belt. One of his students to carry on this tradition is Grandmaster Henry Dickson.
