UWS

About the UWS League

United Women’s Soccer (UWS) is a national 2nd tier league with regional conferences in the United States and Canada. The league prides itself on providing high level competition for top current/post collegiate players, aspiring/former professionals & international stars.

The season takes place from May through July, culminating in a national championship. UWS focuses on operating with professional standards, and is comprised of like-minded clubs aiming to invest in the women’s game.

In 2020, United Women’s Soccer introduced UWS League 2.

FILLING THE GAP

The overarching goal of both leagues is to achieve equality of opportunity for women’s soccer. In a time where there are several professional and amateur leagues for men’s soccer across North America, there is a huge gap that exists between the college and professional ranks on the women’s side. UWS fills that gap by providing a pathway to pro for the amateur player.

COMMITTED TO

ADVANCING
WOMEN’S
SOCCER

OUR VISION

To become the preeminent pro-am women’s soccer league in North America.

OUR MISSION

To advance women’s soccer by operating a standards-driven league in partnership with our member teams.

HISTORY

United Women’s Soccer (UWS) was formed in 2015 under the belief that there is a gap in the development of the female soccer player between the collegiate game and the professional and international game. Immediately after the USL W-League folded, a dedicated tier two league was needed.

Founded by teams formerly playing in the W-League and WPSL, United Women’s Soccer began play in May of 2016 under USASA sanctioning. The league has grown from 2 conferences of 11 teams to 25+ teams divided into 4 conferences and maintains its commitment to advancing women’s soccer.

WE SEE THE BIGGER PICTURE

UWS provides a growth opportunity and clear pathway for teams by filling the gap that exists between the college and professional ranks. Our main objective is to connect with other likeminded entities in order to advance women’s soccer.
