2026 Spring Season

Little League division registration depends on the child's league age, with eligibility typically ranging from 4–16 years old. Required registration documents include proof of residency or school attendance within the local league's boundaries (with some exceptions for the youngest players starting in 2025) and a birth certificate for new players. A player's specific division, such as Tee Ball, Minor, Major, Junior, or Senior, is determined by their age and, in some cases, a player's skill level and previous experience. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9]

General guidelines
  • League age: Determine your child's league age using the official Little League age chart.
  • Eligibility: A player is eligible for registration if they reside within the local league's boundaries OR attend a school within the local league's boundaries.
  • Starting in 2025, children ages 4-7 can register for any Little League program regardless of location.
  • Required documents:
  • New players: Provide a birth certificate and proof of residency (e.g., driver's license, utility bill, tax receipt) dated within a specific timeframe set by the local league.
  • Returning players: May also be required to provide a new proof of residency document for the current season. [1, 3, 5, 6, 9]
Divisional guidelines
  • Tee Ball: For players league age 4-7.
  • Minor League: For players league age 5-11. A 6-year-old may move up to coach pitch if they have played at least one year of Tee Ball or coach pitch.
  • Major Division: For players league age 9-12. A local league can restrict this division to older players, such as 10-12 or 11-12 year-olds.
  • Junior League: For players league age 12-14.
  • Senior League: For players league age 13-16. [1, 2, 7, 8]
Other important points
  • Playing up: Parents may request for their child to play in an older division. This requires approval from the local league's board of directors and is evaluated on a case-by-case basis, with the player's safety being the first consideration.
  • Tryouts: Some divisions, like the Major Division, may require players to participate in tryouts to assess their skills for drafting purposes.
  • Local league rules: Specific registration dates, fees, and other requirements will vary by local league, so it is essential to check the website or contact the league directly. [3, 4, 6, 8, 10]
