Pitching rules according to the 2020-2021 TTA Rule Book

40-4. PITCHING RULES – 10U

A.      At league age 9 and Under and Age 10 and Under pitcher shall not throw more than 75 pitches in the same game or on the same calendar day. Exception: If the pitcher reaches the maximum pitch count limit while facing a batter, he may continue to pitch until the batter reaches base safely or is put out.

1.       If a pitcher throws 1 – 35 pitches he is not required any rest.

2.       If a pitcher throws 36 – 50 pitches he is required one day of rest

3.       If a pitcher throws 51 – 65 pitches he is required two days of rest

4.       If a pitcher throws 66+ pitches he is required three days of rest

B.      A pitcher shall be allowed to pitch in two or more games on the same day provided he does not throw more than 75 pitches total in that calendar day.

C.      Violation of any of these pitching rules will result in the removal of the player from the mound and ejection of the head coach for the remainder of that game plus head coach from the next scheduled game. Second violation is removal of the head coach for the remainder of the tournament.

D.      The pitch count will be kept by the official statistician. The coach will get the pitch count from the statistician at the end of each half inning. Statistician will not be bothered during the inning.

E.       If a game is suspended by darkness, weather or other causes and resumed the following calendar day, the pitcher of record at the time the game was halted may continue to the extent of his eligibility, provided he has thrown 35 pitches or less.

F.       Days of rest shall be calendar days.

G.      If the pitcher is removed from the mound, or lineup, during a game, he may not return to the mound as a pitcher during that game.

H.      TTAB pitching rules will not be superseded nor altered in any manner by local affiliate rules.

I.         There will be no balks called in the Tight Base divisions. Balks will be called in Open Base games. (Tournament play will also be governed by this rule.)
