The CDO Fusion was a newly formed team for the 2009-2010 season and is looking to build on this GREAT first year. Most of the girls on the 2009 team were multi-sport athletes. As a team we encourage and support our girls pursuing other activities like school sports.
Our objective is to help the girls play the best soccer they are capable of against strong competition. We strive to develop the players as individuals and as a team by emphasizing technical skills and tactical awareness. Ultimately, through instruction during training sessions, and plenty of playing time, we look to bring out the best in our players.
As a coaching staff, we strive to restrict our input during matches to pre-game talks and half time adjustments while minimizing our direct instruction during games. We firmly believe that a key part of the development process is for the girls to think through the games for themselves and to learn from mistakes. It is our philosophy that over coaching during matches (by Coaches or Parents) takes away the fun of the game, and impedes the development of players.
Additionally, we want our players to take responsibility for their behavior both on and off the field. Players will be challenged to maintain good grades in school and to behave in a manner that reflects well on our team and our club. We emphasize good sportsmanship regardless of the score, regardless of the game circumstances, and expect our parents to be positive and supportive role models on the sidelines.
