Q. What do I do if I need registration help?
A. In the left panel of this site is a link for "Parent Support." This should give you the assistance you need. IF you have specific questions regarding Scranton Youth Soccer, you can contact
S[email protected]
Q. Do I have to register?
A. When you register with our online portal, you only need to enter your information once. You can add as many "participants" or players as you need. Next year, you won't have to enter any new information, just update whatever has changed.
Q. Are there extra charges for registering online?
A. There are only charges added if you use your credit card to pay for registration. If you register online and send a check as payment, there are no additional charges.
Q. I use Comcast or MSN for my e-mail. Why am I not receiving e-mails?
A. The Comcast and MSN e-mail servers are blocking e-mails from Blue Sombrero to Comcast subscribers. If you haven't received your user name and password, or your registration confirmation, please contact
Steve Kochis.
Q. How do I know what age group my child should be in?
A. Your child's age division is based on their age as of July 31 of the current year. The age divisions are grouped by two ages: for example, the U-08 (or under 8) division has childrend that are 6 and 7 years old; the U-10 (or under 10) division has children that are 8 and 9 years old. The registration system automatically gives you the age division selection based on their "playing age." If your child's birthdate occurs shortly after the July 31 and you feel they should be playing in the next highest age level, please see the next question for instructions.
Q. My child was able to play up a division last year. I don't see the upper division listed; can they still play up?
A. Yes but you'll have to e-mail
Steve Kochis to sign the necessary paperwork to allow them to play up a division.
Q. This is the first time my child is playing soccer. What do I need?
A. Jersey's are the only item you will be required to purchase from the league. We will have uniform shirts available opening day at Weston Field. You can purchase shin guards, soccer socks (preferably blue), and shorts (preferably blue) from any sporting goods store, although Dick's should have these in stock. It is not necessary to purchase soccer boots to play, especially at the younger age levels; sneakers are fine.
Q. How often are practices?
A. Practices are at the discretion of the coaches. However, there is generally not more than one practice each week.
Q. I need a new uniform. Can I purchase one online?
A. Not at this time. Uniform sales will be held on opening day.
Q. How do I see my child's schedule and/or coach information?
A. Schedules can be found by clicking on the "Posted Schedules" tab in the navigation bar. If you log in to the system and click "My Account," you'll also be able to view the roster of teammates and coaches.
Q. My child didn't get put on the team or with the coach I requested. What should I do?
A. Although every effort is made to accommodate special requests, it may not be possible to honor all of them. Children who move up to a higher age division may not be put with the same coach or teammates because either the coach or teammates didn't move up as well. Additionally, we try to balance the teams so that there is an even number same age children and of boys/girls and on the coed teams. If you need to have children together for travel purposes after the rosters have been completed, please notify
Steve Kochis. Please try to remember that soccer season is also a great time for meeting new friends!
