The GU 10 White Coached by Kevin Elson ended its summer with a United Cup Championship.
The team went through its pool undefeated with two wins and a tie to take the top seed in its bracket.
The weekend started with the dreaded 8am start and a last minute field change. The Lady Pats came ready to play and got a 2-0 victory against Capo FC. After a short break the girls were back against West Coast FC United where they fell behind by a goal early but were able to battle back and end the day with a 1-1 tie.
Entering Sunday’s game the team was in control of its own destiny -- a win or a tie the Pats would advance to the semifinals. The morning match up was against an undefeated Murrieta Surf GO3 Blue team. The Lady Pats were able to come away with a 1-0 victory and the top seed in their bracket. The semifinals would match the team against the other brackets #2 seed United FC G03 White in a game that saw United apply a lot of first half pressure, but the Lady Pats stood strong and came out stronger in the second half. This pressure allowed the team to score the only goal of the game and get the 1-0 victory and a trip to the Finals on Monday.
The Final would be a rematch of the Sunday morning match-up with Murrieta Surf G03 Blue. The Lady Pats came out and applied pressure from the start by scoring early and taking a 1-0 lead. They continued to apply pressure throughout the first half and into the second half until they finally got another goal midway through the half. The game ended with a 2-0 victory.
