The Pateadores took top spots in five of seven age groups in the inaugural season of the Southern California Developmental Soccer League (SCDSL). Considering the high level of competition from U11-U19, the Pateadores success in SCDSL secures the club’s reputation as one of the nation's top youth soccer clubs.
Leading the charge in SCDSL was the indomitable BU13 Pateadores “Costa Mesa”. This team chalked-up a perfect 8-0-0 record to win BU13 Flight 1 South. As the pre-season consensus #1-ranked team in the nation (gotsoccer.com), the BU13 “Costa Mesa” is living-up to its considerable expectations and more. Clearly, Head Coach Mario Gonzalez’s squad will be the team to beat at National Cup.
In BU12 Flight 1 North, the Pateadores “LA Guerrero” showed its class by winning a highly competitive division with an 8-2-0 record. While in other bracket action, the BU12 Pateadores “LA Santiesteban” and the BU12 Pateadores “Irvine” were runner-ups in their respective North and South flights.
The BU14 Pateadores “Academy” defeated Strikers FC to claim the title of co-champion of the tough Flight 1 South. With the BU14 “Academy”, Head Coach John Szczuka has built a team that can win the close games while still playing technical, fluid soccer.
To no one’s surprise, Head Coach Joe Cantu’s BU16 Pateadores “Black/Torrance” team won the highly competitive Flight 1 North. This team rarely loses and its high momentum offense proved too much for other SCDSL teams.
In the oldest of the “olders” divisions, the BU18/19 Pateadores “Anaheim” continued its excellent form with an impressive runner-up finish in Flight 1 North. Head Coach Mike Lussier’s team has been playing beautiful soccer as evidenced by its winning Cal South National Cup earlier in the year.
