The Pateadores BU12 and BU13 crossed the state line to play in the prestigious Vegas Cup, and each team brought home a championship.
The League Cup-winning BU13 team dominated pool play and disposed of a pesky Las Vegas Silver team in the semis 3-2. In the final, the BU13 faced their newest cross-state rival SC Del Sol (AZ). With some clever combination play and a disciplined defense, the BU13 were all class in their 1-0 victory.
The top-ranked BU12 team had a hiccup in pool play but regained their form in the semis with a convincing 4-0 defeat of CV Manchester. The team’s strong technical play proved decisive in the final, as they crushed West Coast FC 3-0.
This is the fourth time this season Coach Mario Gonzalez and Assistant Coach Gus Gomez have doubled-down in tournaments and won championships with both the BU12 and BU13 teams (Circle City, NHB, United Cup and Vegas Cup), a truly amazing accomplishment. Coach Mario commented about the weekend "It was a great experience and good result again for both teams. This tournament was great for all families at the same time we used this tournament towards our preparation for National Cup. I was really proud of both teams for this accomplishment, as all players stayed committed to our goal. This is great for the players, families, and club to go outside our soccer bubble and be able to compete with out of state clubs like we did this past weekend.”
