The BU13 capped-off an amazing run to win Coast Soccer's League Cup with a dramatic 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the top-seeded South Bay Gunners.
Throughout this arduous tournament, the BU13 played with technical acumen and found a way to score clutch goals. It was no different in the finals. After trailing by two goals early, the BU14 rallied to equalize off a rebound in the second half. Then, in the final minute, the Pats' left winger crossed a glorious ball over the Gunners' keeper which met the oncoming head of a rushing forward, who nodded the ball off the cross bar and into the goal. The Pats sideline erupted in cheers and Gunners' supporters were left stunned and heartbroken. Soon after, the final whistle blew.
In the semi-finals, the BU13 survived another nail-biter, with a 2-1 win on penalty kicks over a tough Santa Barbara White. Head Coach Mario Gonzalez and Assistant Coach Gus Gomez were pleased that their squad had showed the commitment, and endured the mental and physical challenges, to win one of youth soccer's biggest prizes.
