Jamboree Schedule:

TBD - usually about a week before the event (Planned - 10/26/19)

Our Volleyball leagues will be organized by grade level

** Depending on registration numbers, leagues may be formed using individual grade levels or some may be combined.

** Nights of play has many determining factors - gym availability (conferences, other school activities), HS games (like to get youth to watch the CPHS team), other association schedules (something other associations promise specific days of the week).  When creating the schedule, we look at schedules versus expectations and try to mediate.

3rd & 4th Grades:    Emphasis is placed on skill development, confidence building and learning how to play and have fun. Season starts the middle of September and runs through the last weekend in October. The intent is to allow the players to gain experience in game situations and for the coaches to use the time as teaching opportunities. Games/practices will be two nights per week – will try to schedule 4th Grade mostly on Monday / Wednesday evenings & 3rd Grade mostly on Tuesday / Thursday - but will try to schedule around the Crossfire League (no guarantee - depends on gym availability and coach needs). ** Depending on numbers, this can change **

5th & 6th Grades:    Emphasis is placed on a higher skill development and rules and regulations. No evaluations will be held – information on player experience will be requested at registration and will be used to even out teams.  Season starts the middle of September and runs through the last weekend in October. Games/practices will be two nights per week;  will try to schedule 5th mostly on Tuesday / Thursday and 6th mostly on Monday / Wednesday (no guarantee - depends on gym availability and coach needs).   ** Depending on numbers, this can change **

7th & 8th Grades:    Emphasis is placed on skill development and learning how to play and have fun. This level will also focus on more advanced skills and adding multiple hits in game situations. Season starts the middle of September and runs through the last weekend in October. The intent is to allow the players to gain experience in game situations and for the coaches to use the time as teaching opportunities. Games/practices will be two nights per week – will try to schedule mostly on Monday / Wednesday evenings - but will try to schedule around the Crossfire League (no guarantee - depends on gym availability and coach needs).  ** Depending on numbers, this can change **

**If 8th grade is a separate group from 7th, games/practices may be Sundays.  Practices would be 2 hours and games would be double headers.  If this is a problem, 8th graders can request to play with 7th.

9th - 12th Grades:    Emphasis is placed on skill development and giving older players an opportunity to have fun and play competitively. Season starts the middle of September and runs through the last weekend in October. Games/practices will be 1 night per week – will try to schedule mostly on Sunday afternoon & evenings but the End of Year Tournament could vary day of the week. The intent is to schedule 2 hour practices and double headers to allow for more time while only taking up one day of the week.

Game Equipment

Team t-shirts are supplied (3rd-8th) / Volleyball jerseys are supplied for 9th-12th
Participants supply your own knee pads

A limited number of volleyballs will be supplied per team.
If you bring your own ball please remember to label it with your name!

Coaches

Coaches Meeting

If you are selected to coach a volleyball team please plan on attending a coaches meeting - specific time and location are TBD depending on when / where the coach’s hands-on clinic happens. (Usually a early September, Sunday afternoon/evening) Please make every effort to attend, as materials and rules will be handed out at that time as well as great instruction from experienced coaches.

Volunteers:
The program cannot run without enough adults volunteering to coach. The focus is on learning and having fun so even inexperienced coaches will help the kids tremendously.

Example practice schedules can be provided to those that want them in addition to an explanation of different drills. Also, we will look to get High School volleyball player volunteers to come to practices to help out if coaches choose. Coaches can be paired or in 3’s to minimize the responsibility of any one person. Also, there will be a coach’s clinic the night of the coach’s meeting where you can learn drills hands-on.

Please consider signing up to help coach!

It is not about winning games, it is about the progress your team makes throughout the season and the confidence that is gained in the players. If your team is having fun and has improved, you have succeeded.

If you are on the fence, please consider signing up to coach.  Feedback from coaches is that the experience is wonderful.  Almost all coaches come back the next season because they had such a great experience.

If you have any questions please email:  [email protected]

Online Registration for the Fall season starts May 20th and ends August 1st (11:59 pm).  Late registration (IF SPACE IS AVAILABLE) will be accepted through August 10th, with a $25.00 Late Fee (see next note about 9th-12th league).

Registration deadline for the 9th through 12th grade program is subject to change depending on the High School try out dates (and the late fee is waived).

If you need financial assistance please e-mail a request to [email protected].  All requests for financial assistance must be made prior to the scheduled closing of registrations.  Any Waiting List priority and Late Fees are based on completion of registration not the date of request for aid.

A credit card WILL be required to complete all registrations online.

Please make every effort to register early or at least on time as late registrations make it hard to finalize teams, order uniforms, and finalize the gym time / practice time & game schedules.

Walk-in Registration

NO walk-in registration sessions will be held. If you cannot register online please contact the Volleyball Directors (email [email protected])

We do try to honor player requests for a coach or another player but our main goal is to keep our teams as evenly matched as possible to make it fun for all our participants. As a result, we cannot guarantee we will honor player or coach requests. Players have more fun playing with their friends, but no one has fun when games aren’t competitive. However, because coaches invest a lot of time into the program, coach requests will be given first priority as long as the requests fall in line with the goal of evening out the teams.

Nights of Play

Until gym time is confirmed, the following can change.  Also, there will be slight variations due to scheduling conflicts and coach needs. However, in creating schedules for the season, the plan is to try to schedule Grades 3 & 5 on T / Th nights between 6:15pm – 9:15pm and to have Grades 4, 6, and 7/8 play M / W nights between 6:15 – 9:15 pm.  Finally, the plan is to have Grades 9-12 play Sunday afternoon / evenings. Again, there is no guarantee on these nights of play.  ** Depending on numbers, this can change **

If 8th grade is a separate group from 7th, games/practices may be Sundays.  Practices would be 2 hours and games would be double headers.  If this is a problem, 8th graders can request to play with 7th.

Fees

Program fees will be $90.00 per participant for 2019.

HS Students Reffing / Volunteering

We will hire volleyball referees for all games in 2019. Please email the director with your interest in reffing  [email protected].   Please include your name, contact number, grade, experience and conflict dates for Sept - Oct.

Volunteers

We are looking for experienced volleyball players grades 9 and up to volunteer to help out at practices for grades 3-8. Many of the coaches are parents that do not have volleyball experience.
This program was tried out in previous seasons and the feedback from coaches / players was very positive. Coaches can sign volunteer hour sheets for the time you put in.  Great opportunity to fulfill hours for Government and NHS.

Thank you for helping make this program a success.

Thank you,
Katie & Jenny
