The Pateadores BU15 San Diego defeated Arsenal 1-0 to win the 2013 Surf Cup.
The BU15 faced a series of nationally-ranked opponents throughout the tournament. In pool play, the Pats had to get results against the formidable De Anza Force to make it into the knockout rounds. Then, in the quarter-finals, the "Boys in Blue" played in what was proving to be a tactical stalemate before netting the winner in a tight 1-0 victory against Las Vegas SA. The semi-finals were a different story, as early round nerves gave way to an explosion of fluid, attacking soccer by the Pats, as the team crushed Marin FC 3-1. The one-sided victory marched the boys into the finals where they earned gold medals, playing a perfect game against Arsenal.
