The Foothill Pats BU11 were crowned Champions at the Brea Tournament defeating Crown City by a score of 4-0. At no time were the Foothill Pats in jeopardy, except when we played Freedom in the preliminaries. The Foothill Pats scored 10 goals allowing only 3 goals against. Freedom proved to be the most difficult challenge as they met a well balance opponent. Our defenders were decisive and determined closing the spaces smothering any chances for Freedom to gain. Our play delighted the sidelines as our side played the “Jogo Bonito”.
A seductive and asphyxiating pressure kept Freedom in their own half. At no time did the Pats surrender space nor the ball. You might say Freedoms game was “The Final before the Final”. A truly worthy opponent.
The Foothill Pats overcame the heat of summer at the OC Tournament defeating Wolfpack 4-1 in the final. The Pats scored 21 goals overall, allowing only 3; even in the absence of our regular goalie somewhere in the Caribbean. Not even Freedom whom we met in our first game, was spared being humbled by the Pats 5-1. We met Freedom only a week ago and overcame them by the minimum difference. However, today they were decimated in all fronts by our good play. Our defense solid and unchanging allows our team to launch the attacks
through the flanks, our midfield captivating, mesmerizing, a bewitching style contagious throughout the eleven on the field. Although the heat was suffocating at times, the Pats increased the heat by moving the ball and attacking in all directions, confounding even the best of them. Quoting the greatest of all time a different sport “I move like a butterfly and
sting like a bee” - Cassius Clay.
