The Pateadores BU13 won Surf Cup for a record fourth time with a 5-4 victory on PKs against Cosmos Academy Blue. The BU13’s string of wins against top competition in San Diego secured a #1 national ranking through July from the influential soccer website, gotsoccer.com.
The draw at Surf Cup was difficult to say the least. On the way to the championship game, the BU13 had to beat a who’s who of U.S. youth club soccer’s best teams in the age group, including Washington Premier, Real Colorado, LA Galaxy Youth, San Diego Surf and De Anza Force.
Head Coach Mario Gonzalez was pleased with how his team responded to the high level of competition. His team played technical, flowing soccer and was stubborn as always on defense, giving-up just two goals.
