The sensational Pateadores BU12 won the US Youth Soccer 2011 Region IV Championships in Boise, Idaho, with a 5-4 victory over Mt. Hamilton of San Jose, CA.
The final was a much anticipated match-up between the nation’s top two teams in boys’ under-12 (as ranked by gotsoccer.com). The game itself was an absolute thriller, showcasing the explosive attack and technical superiority that are the hallmarks of Head Coach Mario Gonzales’ squad.
Minutes into the game it was clear that Mt. Hamilton, a team that had not ceded a goal in the knockout rounds, was facing an onslaught by the Pats talented playmakers and forwards. The lion was out of the cage.
Mt. Hamilton counter-attacked heroically, keeping the Pats defense and goalkeeper on red alert. For every Pats strike into the twine, Mt. Hamilton found an answer. However, at the final whistle, the depth of talent of the BU12 was simply too much for any team in the Far West to match, including Mt. Hamilton.
