The girls U13 Pateadores capped off an outstanding season in style by winning the Cal South Governors Division State Championship at the Ranch in San Juan Capistrano. The girls faced stiff competition throughout the tournament and had to beat three league rivals for a third time along the way. After finishing as the runner up last season in the state tournament, the team made it their goal to be “the last team standing” this season. They had an undefeated league season and kept focus as things progressed into State Cup. The defense held stout, surrendering only four goals the entire tournament while the offense commanded attention and constantly pressured opposing defenses. Coach Kevin Macare commented on the teams’ accomplishments. “This team has a great work ethic, set sound goals for developing individually and as a team, and deserves the honor of being a state champion. I am proud of each one of them and look forward to more great things.”
