Our story began with a vision from God about three years ago and the first attempt failed because I was trying to do it in my time. So, a couple years went by as I was trying to run from what I was called to do. One evening my neighbor and I were talking on my front porch about the conflicts going on in the booster club they were apart of with their daughter. In our conversation we discussed creating a booster club for Elkton, TN. It was then we decided to create Elkton Booster Club!During the beginning stages we had met with the mayor, principal, parents and attended council meetings. We conducted a survey to ensure the interest level was there for our town. The conclusion of the survey revealed the interests in sports and parents were tired of going to other towns for their children to play sports. The consensus was everyone wanted to see our park used since we had one in our town there was no sense in it wasting away. We clearly have an up-hill road starting from scratch to achieve our goals, but all things are possible with the guidance of God. We have had so many blessings during this journey and we continue to see blessings every day.Our purpose, to support programs through fund raising, continuously working to expand its membership, and provide support for game day activities. In addition, the Elkton Booster Club will actively engage all supporters of athletics to identify and implement activities that will build both spirit and a servant's heart within our club, our school, and our community.
The objective, to support and raise money for Elkton Booster Club while promoting a servant’s heart in our community and children.Sports is not about just winning or losing. Our sports program is to teach and instill teamwork, confidence, self-worth, leadership and discipline. We want to improve our community and provide our children with a safe place to interact with others. Many children want to participate in sports however, if they don’t make an elementary school team they lose the opportunity to learn the basics. Without the basics many are unable to catch up and compete at the high school level. We want to give those children a chance to learn the basics! We want to see our community and children succeed and grow.
There are three of us currently who have been striving to make the booster club successful. Each of us brings something different and unique to the table. We are hard workers and go getters! This is our baby and we are doing everything we can with the guidance of God to make this great!Our board members are, Tracy Davis – President, Anna Johnson – Treasurer and Courtney Clem – Secretary. We have numerous individuals who have helped us along the way. The principal at Elkton Elementary, Lanny Rich and staff, have been a tremendous help to us and they have been very supportive.
We are a non-profit organization!
To this date we have been volunteering our time, our own earnings and laborious work. We do this because we feel passionate about the vision and the betterment of our community and children.
