2 Pitchers Team Up As Ohio Shuts Out Kentucky

Ohio is West Side Little League. Kentucky is Eastern Lexington Little League.
Ohio defeated Kentucky 7-0 on Saturday at the Little League Central Region Complex as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Cash Jones and Preston Baker each pitched for Ohio in the game. Preston Baker induced a double play to get the last out.
Ohio advances to play Michigan in GAME 3 on Sunday, August 3 at 4pm. Kentucky will play Indiana at 7pm in GAME 4 on Sunday, August 3.
Ohio won thanks in part to four runs in the second inning. Gavyn Spears singled, scoring two runs, and Bobby Frazier grounded out, scoring two runs.
Ohio opened the scoring in the first after Preston Baker grounded out, scoring two runs.
A double by TJ Madden extended the Ohio lead to 7-0 in the bottom of the third inning.
Cash Jones stepped on the mound first for Ohio. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out four and walking three. Banks Denton led things off on the hill for Kentucky. The starter surrendered one hit and six runs (four earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking five. Preston Baker tossed one inning of shutout ball for Ohio in relief. The pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out none and walking one.
Gavyn Spears, Jonathan Lineback, TJ Madden, and Oakley Turner each collected one hit for Ohio. Gavyn Spears, Bobby Frazier, TJ Madden, and Preston Baker each drove in one run for Ohio. Ohio had a strong eye at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Ohio turned two double plays in the game. Ohio were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Jordan Mallory made the most plays with six.
Banks Denton led Kentucky with one hit in two at bats. Kentucky turned one double play in the game.
