WSC COVID-19 Policies for All Outdoor Practices and Games

Players, Coaches, Volunteers, and Referees are not required to report vaccination status; however, all that are eligible are highly encouraged to get vaccinated.

Regardless of one’s vaccination status, during any outdoor WSC Activity, including but not limited to: Travel Games/Practices, Academy Games/Practices, Junior Academy Sessions, and/or Rec Sessions:

  • If any Player, Coach, Volunteer, or Spectator is feeling unwell, has a fever, or exhibits any COVID-19 symptoms, they should not participate or attend any WSC practice, game, or other WSC-sponsored event. Please refer to the CDC website for COVID-19 symptoms (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptomstesting/symptoms.html).
  • Players are encouraged to wear a mask and social distance while on the sidelines, though it is not required.
  • Players are not required to wear a mask while playing, though it is OK if they want to.
  • Players are discouraged from sharing equipment, such as water bottles, with each other.
  • Coaches and Volunteers are encouraged, but not required, to wear a mask, and whenever possible, maintain a social distance from others.
  • Spectators are encouraged, but not required, to wear masks and maintain a social distance from others.

When visiting other towns, WSC Travel Teams and Spectators should follow these policies unless they conflict with the policies of the host town, in which case the stricter of the rules should always be followed.

All visiting Teams from other towns are to follow the WSC policies. Team Managers should direct opponents to our website or should share a copy of our policies for each match.

WSC Quarantine Policy (Effective Fall 2021)

To create and maintain as safe an environment as possible for all WSC participants during the COVID-19 pandemic, the WSC must rely on its players and their parents/caregivers to commit to abiding by this WSC Quarantine Policy and, to generally act with honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity in our actions and relationships with each other both on and off the soccer field.

The WSC is following the quarantine policy outlined by the Weston Public School District:

  • If your player is quarantined from school, your player must not attend any WSC-sponsored events, games, or practices until such time as the player's quarantine period is over and the player has returned to school. There are no exceptions to this policy.
  •  There are instances where your player may not be quarantined from school but had exposure to a known case of COVID-19. The WSC is following the guidance of the CDC regarding quarantining after exposure to COVID-19, and as such, whether to quarantine will be dictated upon the player's vaccination status and symptoms as set forth below.
  • Fully vaccinated, asymptomatic players who have been in close contact (defined as being within 6 feet for >15 minutes) with a known COVID-19 case:
  • Do not have to quarantine if they remain asymptomatic.
  • We recommend obtaining a PCR test 3-5 days after exposure per updated CDC guidelines (see link below).
  • Unvaccinated, asymptomatic players who have been in close contact of a known COVID-19 case:
  • Will quarantine for 10 days.

The player does not need to send the negative PCR test result to the WSC. The WSC expects all WSC participants to act on the honor system.

  • Vaccinated and unvaccinated players who experience COVID-19 symptoms after close contact with a known COVID-19 case:
  • Will quarantine for 10 days with a negative PCR test between day 7 & 10.
  • Will quarantine for 14 days without a negative PCR test result.
  • The player does not need to send the negative PCR test result to the WSC. The WSC expects all WSC participants to act on the honor system.

Vaccinated and unvaccinated players who test positive for COVID-19 will need to isolate for 10 days from the start of symptoms or the date of the positive test and may return to WSC-related events, games, and practices after the 10 days if they are symptom free.
