Covid-19 Information

Covid-19 and Outdoor Youth Sports Information

Below is a list of recommendations and guideline as directed by the Illinois Department of Public Health, Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunities, and other governing bodies that Braidwood Baseball Softball Association interacts with.

PLEASE NOTE...This information is fluid and can change as new information is available or revised by each of these agencies.

The ultimate goal of BBSA is to have the youth of our organization to play in a safe, health, and positive environment.

Should any information change it will be updated on this page, and communicated via the association's Facebook page.

Game Play

Game Play

During the play of the game, each player should work to eliminate contact with other persons.  This include handshakes, and high-fives.

When not on the playing field it is recommended that social distancing of at least 6 feet be followed.  We understand that kids will be kids; this is something that parents, and coaches will have to work together on doing what is best for the players.

There is to be no food, candy, gum, or seeds in the dugouts.  Drink bottles should be labeled with the players name on it.  Sharing of drink bottles is not permitted.

Sharing of equipment should be limited.  Between each use it must be wiped down with a disinfectant, if it is shared.  It is recommended that your players personal equipment be wiped down with a disinfectant after each game; even it it is not shared during the game.

After the game players should still line up on the baseline in front of their dugout, but should not do a traditional "good game" hand shake or "high five".  Instead they should either wave at or tip their cap at the other team in a sign of good sportsmanship.

There is to be no after game team snacks passed out.

Spectator Info

Spectator Information

Gathering in groups is discouraged, as the CDC and the State of Illinois still recommends social distancing.

BBSA suggests that you bring your own seats to the game fields; as bleachers may not be available in an effort to keep a recommended social distance between spectators.

Face coverings are still recommended by the CDC and the State of Illinois.

All visitors to the parks in Braidwood are encouraged to bring their own hand sanitizer.

The Braidwood Park District encourages anyone that is showing symptoms of COVID-19 to stay home, and avoid the parks.

Use of the parks is at your own risk.  Please use your best personal judgment for yourself, and those in your household.  This is still an active pandemic.  While precautions are being taken to move back towards a normal; it is still the responsibility of each person to do what is best for them and their community.

The playground area at the Old Smokey Park, by the ball fields, has a 15 person capacity.  This is per the Braidwood Park District.  Please supervise your children that are using this equipment and respect the capacity limit set by the park district.

Final Thoughts

Final Thoughts

All the precautions in the world can be taken, and still not be enough.  The best course of action in these times is to use your best judgement of the situation.  Those involved in this program care deeply about the well-being of all parties that are involved and have been working closing with various agencies, as well as monitoring information from the CDC, and IDPH.

Please respect the rights of others to protect themselves as you protect yourself and your family in the manner of your choosing.  That being said we do ask that you respect the requirements of the Braidwood Park District as we all use the facilities under their control.

Ultimately, we all want to have a fun, successful, and healthy baseball season.  The board of officers and directors with Braidwood Baseball Softball Association thanks you for your patience and understanding in these unprecedented times that we all are facing.
