Saturday, June 7, 2025 ages 7-14
Greater Helotes LL is excited to announce that we will be hosting the
MLB Pitch, Hit & Run
contest on
Saturday, June 7, 2025
beginning at 10:00 am. It is a
FREE
event that is meant to be a fun and friendly experience for all, and provides players ages 7 to 14 with an opportunity to showcase their baseball skills, while earning a chance to attend and perform during the 2025 MLB World Series!
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
:
Participants MUST pre-register
with the MLB through our event link:

COMPETITION RULES
:
Athletes will compete in the following age groups (age cut-off is set by the MLB as the player's age as of 11/15/25):
• 7-8 Age Division
• 9-10 Age Division
• 11-12 Age Division
• 13-14 Age Division
Pitch
: Athletes are tested on the accuracy of their throw. They get five attempts to hit the strike zone from a designated pitching line. If any portion of the target is hit, it counts toward the athlete’s total points. Each time they hit the target they receive 50 points and 100 points for a bullseye. Distance: 35' for softball, 45' for baseball.
Hit
: Athletes hit the ball off a tee as far as possible. They can adjust the tee to their desired height, and they receive 5 tries. Each ball receives points depending on what zone it lands in -- the score is based on where it lands, not where it rolls, and must be a fair ball. Bats must have one of the following stamps; the USA Baseball stamp, BBCOR stamp or be labeled with a BPF of 1.15 or less. Softball bats must have one of the following stamps; USA Softball, USSSA, ASA, ISA, ISF, NSA or be labeled with a BPF of 1.20 or less.
Run
: Athletes are measured to see how quickly they can run from home to first base (90ft in a straight line). Each participant gets two attempts to run, and their fastest score is recorded.
HOW TO ADVANCE TO THE NEXT ROUND
:
Athletes will receive a score in each of the 3 categories, as well as an overall score for the event. It is the overall score that will be used to determine an athlete's eligibility to advance to the next round of the competition (an athlete must compete in all 3 categories in order to be eligible for advancing).
Winners from each age group will go into a pool with all other local event winners. Once all local events are completed, the top overall performing winners will be selected to advance to a Team Championship event, which will be held in August-October 2025. The winners with the highest scores in the Team Championships will have a chance to qualify for Finals. The Finals are an all-expenses paid trip for the winner and one guardian to compete during the MLB World Series.
*If we have at least 175 pre-registered participants prior to the day of the event, the athletes with the top overall score in each age division will automatically qualify to advance to the Team Championship, thereby bypassing the local winner pool.
