east county little league where memories are made and friends become family

Hello East County Little League Families,

I hope this message finds you all in good health.  This last weekend the East County LL Board of Directors got together to discuss the current situation regarding our Spring 2020 season.  With the results of our recent survey our families filled out a couple of weeks ago, along with the current government forced COVID-19 restrictions and uncertainty of specified dates of the ease of these restrictions, we have determined that we will not be able to play a Spring season as planned.

Many of our families expressed they had other commitments or would not be available to continue.  The loss of these players would have collapsed some teams and even divisions.  Without a set date to resume play, it was deemed too difficult to reconstruct teams by an optimistic June start.  Our new plan is to offer a full 13 game season planned to start on August 1st ending in the beginning of October.

Our league is a non-profit organization that survives financially year to year because of our amazing sponsors and with the due’s our families pay.  We wish were able to reimburse the full cost of entry to ECLL this spring, however our season was in full swing and a majority of our yearly expenses had already been incurred...  Spend had been required on numerous items such as (but not limited to) uniforms, city field rentals, field repairs, porta potties, insurance, chalk, academic honor roll patches, the ECLL Factory, snack shack product (that was primarily donated back to our community before it was wasted) and even some physical materials such as equipment we will be able to use in upcoming seasons.  The only significant remaining costs we had for the season were field rentals and umpire fees. Additionally, we missed out on a few of our key fund raisers like the snack bar, crab feed, Ports game, and revenue from the Factory.  Due to all of these factors, we are limited on the amount we are able to refund to our families in this difficult time.

Our current situation allows us to offer each of our players the option of a partial refund to their Spring 2020 dues.

All Competitive division players are being offered $65.00

All Non-Competitive players are being offered $45.00

Please fill out the survey in this link REFUND SURVEY to let us know if you would like your refund or if you would like to donate your refund and receive either a receipt of your donation to take a tax break (consisting of your FULL 2020 Spring dues) or you can receive a partial credit to our August programs (covered below). Please let us know if you choose to donate your reimbursement to East County Little League you will be entitled to use your dues as a tax write off.   ECLL Tax-ID 68-0170862

All moneys not claimed by May 23rd will be considered a donation to the league.

For everybody wishing to continue playing with ECLL this year:

We are offering a full season starting August 1st and ending the beginning of October.  Depending on how the registrations turn out, we will be selecting entirely new teams and having a 13-game season or a 9 to 11 game season including the chance of an in-house playoff (all TBD)!  Games will be played during the week and on Saturdays.   We are looking for Managers and Coaches NOW!  Once the registration process is constructed, we will announce an opening date for signups.  This season will be open to our entire community!

The cost of this program will be $150 for competitive divisions (baseball and softball) and $100 for lower division.  This will include a jersey (no names) and a hat.  We will have sponsors on the back of our uniforms.  There will be umpires at competitive games, standings will be kept and each of our teams will also receive Factory time.  We are still deciding on the formalities.  We will send info as its available about this season, if you have any immediate questions please reach out to [email protected].

Any players returning from the current Spring 2020 season that forgoes their $45/$65 credit will be offered a discount for this August program:

Competitive division players will be offered a $100 discount leaving an additional $50 (+ processing) out of pocket

Lower Division players will be offered a $75 discount leaving an additional $25 (+ processing) to be paid out of pocket.

If this next attempt to complete a season is altered by COVID-19, or anything else.  The plan is to reimburse all returning players the original Spring refund plus all additional money spent on dues for the August program.  If uniforms have been handed out, the refund will be less $25-$30.
