What You'll Need
PLL will provide jerseys, socks, belts, and replica team hats, but each player is responsible for the following:

  • Baseball Pants
  • Helmet with chin strap and face guard (make sure to put your child’s name on this)
  • Bat (make sure to put your child’s name on this)
  • Glove (make sure to put your child’s name on this)
  • Cleats (no metal spikes)
  • Protective gear (athletic cup for boys)


School Enrollment or Proof of Residency Documentation
First time players must bring a copy of their birth certificate. In addition, any player who has not submitted a School Enrollment Form during their PLL career, or has changed schools since submitting one, must submit one at Evaluations. The form can be found here and must document enrollment in the 2022-2023 academic school year prior to Oct. 1, 2022.

On the form, League Name = Powhatan Little League, and League ID# = 292044

If the player is home schooled or doesn’t attend a public or private school in Powhatan or Cumberland or Amelia County, please submit 3 proofs of residency as follows:

Submit 1 proof from each of the 3 Groups, dated or in force between Feb. 1, 2023 – Feb. 1, 2024.

Important 2023 Spring Season Dates

  • Mandatory Coaches Clinic - January 21, 2023
    There will be a mandatory coaches clinic on January 21, 2023 at the Pochontas Landmark Center. This is required for all managers/coaches and assistant coaches before being considered to manage or coach a team. The address is 4290 Anderson Hwy, Powhatan, VA 23139.
  • Player Skills Assessments - February 11 & 18, 2023
    All players in Minors, Majors, Intermediate 50/70, Juniors and Seniors baseball must attend player player skills assessments on either February 11 or February 18, 2023. This will be a great opportunity to get your sluggers excited for the coming season. Assessments will be instructional in nature. See more details about assessments below.

Player Skills Assessments

All players in Minors, Majors, Intermediate 50/70, Juniors and Seniors baseball must attend player player skills assessments on either February 11 or February 18, 2023. This will be a great opportunity to get your sluggers excited for the coming season. Assessments will be instructional in nature.

Assessments Schedule
Assessments will take place at the Pocahontas Landmark Center gym located at 4290 Anderson Highway, Powhatan. Please find your division below and attend during your designated time (based on your last name) on either 2/11 or 2/18. Assessments should take 15-30 minutes depending on your division.

Please Note:

  • We will follow the same schedule on both 2/11 and 2/18.
  • If you cannot make your scheduled assessment time because of a conflict, please come to the next available time closest to your age group. If you still have a conflict, please contact the PLL Player Agent to schedule an alternate time.
  • ALL players MUST be assessed. If they do not attend either day or make arrangements with the Players Agent for an alternative assessment date/time, they will be put into the draft and any requests will not be honored.
  • If you have not provided proof of residency in your online registration, please bring it with you to your assessment. See more information regarding this below.


What to Bring
All players should bring their glove, bat, and wear athletic shoes (no cleats). If your player is a catcher with their own gear, they may bring that with them.
