BHLL Spring 2022 Registration Now Open

Welcome to Beverly Hills Little League's 2022 Spring baseball season. REGISTRATION FOR THE SPRING PROGRAM IS NOW OPEN. Please read this entire notice as it answers most questions parents have about the spring program, including Covid-19 safety guidelines that each player must comply with (see below).

The registration fee for all divisions is $325. REGISTER BY DECEMBER 31, 2021 TO RECEIVE A $50 DISCOUNT (total fee reduced to $275). Scholarships are available to those families that demonstrate a financial need (contact registrar at [email protected]). The registration fee includes uniforms for each player (except baseball pants). No refunds after February 14, 2022.

The BHLL spring program consists of six divisions, with teams for ages 4-16, including T-Ball (ages 4-6), Rookies (7-8), Minors (9-10), Majors (11-12), Juniors (13-14) and Seniors (15-16). Divisions for Softball will also be available in Rookies, Minors and Majors age levels.  If you believe your child is skilled enough to move up a division, first register in your child's age- appropriate division then contact the registrar ([email protected]) to request a transfer (must be approved by the Division Director-- BHLL does not guarantee your child will be allowed to move up a division).

You can register at: https://clubs.bluesombrero.com/beverlyhillslittleleague. Under the link "Registration" you will see another link for "Available Programs". Please follow the directions (including creating an account). You must enter an accurate birthdate otherwise you will be disqualified from the program. Select the division you are eligible to register for based on the birthdate entered. Softball registration is for females only (all other divisions co-ed). You should receive a confirmation via email once you successfully complete the registration process.

If you want to coach a team (we need coaches), please also register at: https://clubs.bluesombrero.com/beverlyhillslittleleague. There is a separate link in the registration page for coaches. BHLL strives to give every kid who registers an opportunity to play ball but that requires sufficient number of coaches especially at T-Ball and Rookies level so please volunteer.

Available slots are first come, first serve and there is no guarantee BHLL can accommodate every player, so register early. Registration will close once divisions are full (BHLL will form a wait list and notify the parent only if his/her child is off the wait list).

Players in T-Ball and Rookies can request teammates and coaches. There is a section in the registration page that allows you to make these requests. BHLL will attempt to accommodate coach and teammate requests for T-Ball and Rookies only (no guarantees though because each team has a roster limit).

Please do not make teammate or coach requests for Minors, Majors and Juniors-- they will not be honored because players in those divisions are subject to a draft. Players in Minors-Juniors must play for the team that drafted him/her (no exceptions). Players registered in Minors, Majors and Juniors must participate in mandatory ratings in late January/early February 2022 to be eligible for the draft (parents will receive a notice of the exact day and time for ratings). T-Ball and Rookies are not rated and are not subject to a draft.

The 2022 Spring program is scheduled to run from mid-February to early June 2022. Some players are selected for the Minors, Majors and Juniors All-Star teams that compete in the Little League Tournament. BHLL requests that parents do not make vacation plans until after mid-July 2022 to allow your child to participate in All-Stars in the event he/she is selected.

Teams in T-Ball, Rookies and Minors Divisions that play games on Sundays are reserved for players who are unable to play on Saturdays because of religious reasons. Majors and Juniors games are not scheduled on Friday or Saturday.

You will be notified of your team assignments in early to mid-February.

Once you successfully register, you will be notified by early January of the schedule for ratings day if registered in Minors, Majors or Juniors. Otherwise you probably won't hear from BHLL until February 2022.

The schedule for 2022 will be posted towards late February.

Minors, Majors and Juniors typically have 2 games per week (1 game on the weekend and the other during the week) and 1 week-day practice. T-Ball and Rookies typically have 1 game on the weekend and 1 week-day practice per week. Coaches determine when weekday practices are scheduled for their teams (which means BHLL can't answer questions in advance regarding likely practice time).

Further information regarding Seniors Division (ages 15+) and Buddy Ball/Challenger Division (special need players) will be sent in early 2022 although early registration is available for those programs . There is no fee for any special need child who wishes to play in the Buddy Ball/Challenger Division.

If you have any questions regarding the Spring program, you can contact the President Lenny Dunn at [email protected] or the Registrar/VP, Raul Perez, at [email protected] Email is the preferred method to communicate with BHLL.

BHLL SPRING BALL COVID-19 SAFETY PROGRAM

In compliance with recent state and county guidelines and best practices for youth sports during the Covid-19 pandemic, BHLL adopted the following program and safety protocols for 2022 Spring Baseball. BHLL will update these guidelines as necessary and reserves the right to modify them during the season. All participants including players, coaches and parents must follow the Covid-19 safety guidelines. All participants including coaches also will have to sign waiver of liabilities to participate in the Spring Program (waivers sent via email).

•        All players, coaches, volunteers and trainers ages 12 and older must be vaccinated (full FDA approval of Covid-19 vaccine for ages 12-16 is expected before 2022 season starts). The Safety Director will email parents of the type of proof required to satisfy this requirement and the deadlines that must be met to remain eligible to play. Any medical exemption request will be handled on a case by case basis and must be requested by January 15, 2022. No refunds for players that fail to meet this requirement will be issued after the season starts on February 15.

•       Players ages 5-11 must submit proof of a weekly negative Covid-19 test to be eligible to play for the games scheduled that week (players must arrange for their own test through school, home-kit, or Covid-19 clinic). Players who submit proof of vaccination do not need to submit tests (vaccination not required for ages 5-11 because full FDA approval not expected before 2022 season starts). The Safety Director will email parents further information regarding how to satisfy the weekly Covid-19 test requirement. The Safety Director will also notify parents of the quarantine procedure for any players that tests positive for Covid-19. Again, no refunds for players that fail to meet this requirement will be issued after the season starts in mid February.

•        Players in the dugouts will be required to wear masks. Masks with one-way valves are not permitted. Any player or coach who refuses to wear a mask will be sent home. Any player or coach who repeatedly refuses to wear a mask will be dismissed from the program.

•        Participants should bring their own equipment. BHLL will supply necessary equipment to any participant lacking proper equipment due to financial challenges. No equipment (e.g., gloves, bats, catcher’s gear, etc.) or drink bottles or food will be shared at any time (participants should bring their own drinks and snacks).   Parents can purchase baseball equipment (minimum batting helmet, glove and bat) at Big5, Dick's Sporting Goods, or Amazon.

•       Any participant or coach who violates any of the safety protocols will be suspended from the program. The BHLL Board also reserves the right to cancel any and all practices or games during the season in response to the Covid-19 pandemic .
