Welcome to Redoubt Soccer Association

Purpose

Dear Redoubt Families:

The Redoubt Board has continued to hold on to hope that we would be able to restart the Spring 2020 season. We have had weekly updates from TN State Soccer regarding the Return to Play date, which remains May 15. The latest announcement (May 12) is sticking with the May 15 date with the exception of those counties with their own Health Department. As you all know, this includes us in Hamilton County. Since we are under the Hamilton County Department of Recs and Parks, we must follow their guidelines as well. The most  recent order from the Governor is what Hamilton County has elected to abide by. Under that order, youth sports may not begin opening until June 1, 2020, and this includes practices and games. So, although TN State Soccer has given their blessing to start on Saturday, Hamilton County has not. Due to this (and with no guarantee that the June 1 date will not be extended) it is with very heavy hearts that the Board voted unanimously to cancel the Spring 2020 season. We love this sport and look forward to each practice and game and seeing the development of our kids. However, we feel that with the uncertainty of the current situation and the safer at home regulations, it is in the best interest of our families to forgo the remainder of our season.

For those that are unaware, Redoubt is a 501(c) Non-Profit Organization. We rely on fees collected from registrations to pay all expenses incurred and operation costs. Redoubt is responsible for ALL costs and the care of our complex. These include (but are not limited to): State fees, uniforms, referees, insurance, utilities and field maintenance. We also take in field usage fees from other clubs, and from the Scenic City Cup select tournament to help with expenses. Neither of those were collected this season due to the pandemic. Because the shut-down occurred after the start of the season, expenses had already been paid for the Spring. We will be offering two options:

1. Partial Refund: We can refund 50% of the registration fee you paid for the Spring season.

2. Donation: Instead of the refund, you may donate the 50% of your registration. Because Redoubt is a 501(c) organization, this is tax deductible and we can provide you with the required documentation.

NOTE: If you registered and paid for academy training, that will be refunded at 100%.

Refunds will begin on Monday, June 1. We would like to start sooner but the system must be changed to allow for refunds and our host has to do it themselves. The refund will go back to the card used to pay. We ask for your patience, as each one must be processed separately and with our board members being volunteers where most also have full-time jobs, we will work on them as quickly as possible.

**Please select your option here by Sunday, May 31, 2020. If we receive no response, we will have to assume no refund and 50% donation:  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScOwIN-llUFDbZlTc9jMoK1LiHzFRMZZLR0IoSLgNR5rPSojg/viewform

The big question may be, why 50%? Where are the fees collected actually going? We have worked that out as well.

REC FEES:

There are different price points for rec registration: Some elected to volunteer for a discount, some paid a discounted fee for 3 or more players, etc. The average rec fee paid is $100. Here is a break-down of the different ways the registration fee is used:

Operations (Fuel, field maintenance, utilities, paint etc): $50

Uniform: $20

Insurance: $12

State Registration: $10

Trophy: $4

Referees: $3

Coaches' Gear (Cones, pennies, etc): $2

These costs total $101, which equates to a cost to run the program. This is common, as youth sports non-profits have no desire to make money; only to facilitate the love of the game and to provide an excellent complex in which to learn. The only things that have not been paid on your player(s)' behalf are the state registration, trophy and referees (aside from the first game). We wanted to offer the highest possible refund to our families while still being able to keep the program and the complex running, for when we can begin again.

SELECT FEES:

There are different price points for select registration: Some elected to volunteer for a discount, while others did not. The average select academy fee paid for the spring season only is $168.75. Here is a break-down of the different ways the registration fee is used:

Operations (Fuel, field maintenance, utilities, paint etc): $100

Coaches' Pay: $25

Insurance: $15

State Registration: $25

Referees: $6

Coaches' Gear (Cones, pennies, shirts, etc.): $7

Team fees will be decided on a team basis. If you will be returning to the same team next season, the team fee you paid can be transferred to use next season. Or, if your team decides, the remaining team account balance can be divided up and refunded with no additional held out. Please keep in mind that if the latter option is chosen, they will be refunded by check and will take a bit longer to send out.

NOTE: Please do not email our board members as all questions should be directed to a[email protected]com. Redoubt policy typically does not provide refunds for registrations, but given the current unprecedented situation we are offering a partial refund option to all families. *A refund can only be issued to the card you used to register. If this card is no longer available to receive funds please note in the form with the mailing address as those refunds will have to be issued by check.

Once again, we thank you for your patience as we tried to keep the spring season an option week after week. We are already in the process of planning an activity or two during the summer and possibly even an expanded fall season! We hope you are all staying healthy, as active as you can be, and safe during this time. To those families who have medical personnel, first responders, or have essential jobs, THANK YOU for all you do and please continue to be safe.

We appreciate your continued patience during this time. We will work as quickly as possible to process refund requests and answer your questions in a timely manner.

Best regards and we look forward to the day when we see everyone again on the soccer fields,

Redoubt Soccer Board of Directors
