FALL FUTURE STARS

Boys and Girls Ages 5 and 6

Silver Lake Soccer Club is excited to continue our Future Stars program this Fall. This program is now partnered with the local premier soccer club from North County Youth Soccer Association, Washington Rush.  They provide an exceptional program designed by professional coaches to teach skills to these players.  The skill sessions are presented by older players from Washington Rush Premier teams and monitored by professional coaches.  Combining the professional trainers with volunteer coach led scrimmages, our Future Stars program is a great starting point for all kids, ages 5 and 6.

SESSION SUMMARY

The Future Stars program is an eight-week session held on Saturdays only, beginning the first weekend following Labor Day and running through the end of October. Depending on the number of teams participating, sessions typically start as early as 9:00 am to as late as 3:00 pm on a rotating schedule and run for approximately one hour. Generally, all sessions are held at the same facility throughout the program season.

Each Saturday, teams of up to six players will have 30 minutes of technical skills instruction on the field by a trainer. They will use tried and true practices and philosophy to develop the players' soccer skills while having a fantastic time. The curriculum for the season will include ball mastery, dribbling, passing, possession and shielding, shooting and defending.

After the 30-minute technical session, each team will play a 30-minute, 3 vs. 3 scrimmage/game against another Silver Lake Soccer Club Future Stars team led by their volunteer coach. This part of the session provides an opportunity for the players to put into practice the skills they were just working on with the trainers. The volunteer coaches manage substitutes and help officiate the match focusing mostly on restarting after the ball goes out of play.

TEAM FORMATION

Teams are gender specific and randomly formed by the club based on requested preferred teammates, schools attended, home address location and other criteria.

VOLUNTEER COACHES

Teams are managed and led mostly by volunteers from the participants' parent pool.  Volunteer coaches who are interested in developing their own coaching skills have the opportunity to learn and see the drills at work during the skills sessions. In addition, coaches have the opportunity to attend age-specific coaching clinics offered by the club. While not every volunteer coach for the Future Stars program will continue to coach into the recreational program when players become older, we hope that enough of these Future Stars volunteer coaches will enjoy their experience in this program and continue to lead their team into the next season.

All trainers, parent volunteers and coaches will have completed nationwide background checks.
