VI. Obligations and Responsibilities of Parents

Parents need to recognize that they are an important part of the success of the program. As a result, the SSC asks that all parents please respect the following guidelines:

**Be sure your child arrives at games and practices at the time and place as required by the schedule and/or coach.

**Foul language and inappropriate comments before, during, and after games and practices are strictly prohibited.

**The SSC, Board of Directors, MYSL, coaches and assistant coaches cannot be responsible for unattended children. Parents and guardians are required to assume responsibility for their children before, during, and after all games and practices.

**For the purpose of clarity, a parent or guardian cannot assume a coach, assistant coach or any other member of the Stoneham Soccer Program will assume responsibility for your child before, during or after a game or practice.

**It is a parent’s responsibility to make your child’s coach or assistant coach aware of health related issues which may require consideration during a game or practice.

**Attend games and encourage good sportsmanship.

**Become an active member in SSC by coaching or doing other volunteer work.

**Present a good example to all the children by following the policies set forth by the SSC.

**Notify your child's coach or assistant coach well in advance in the event that your child will be unable to attend a game or practice. One week’s notice is recommended in both cases.

**Speak to a coach or a member of the Board of Directors if you feel your child is having a problem with a coach or a teammate.

**Respect the decisions of coaches, assistant coaches and, referees during a game and/or practice.

**Respect the rules of the SSC.

**Do not directly engage in conversation of any kind with a referee during a game. All interaction with referees during a game is the responsibility of the coach or assistant coach. Not adhering to this policy may and probably will result in your child’s team having to forfeit a game.

The coach is responsible for the conduct of both players and their parents during a game.

As a parent, if you feel that there is a legitimate complaint that must be elevated then present that in a constructive manner to the coach for follow up.
