Registration Full Details

Hello everyone, registration is now open for our

2023 Spring Session

Spring soccer is a great sport, easy to play and difficult to master. It’s a great alternative to baseball for high energy kids due to the constant action.

Triboro Soccer plays in a recreational league, it is NOT a highly competitive environment. There are players in all divisions playing for the first time and the same is true for the teams we play against. We make a solid effort to balance our teams with new and experienced players so we can provide a learning environment, but also be competitive in the league.

The registration cost is $65 for the first player, and $55 for additional players in the same family.

The last day to register is 3/4/2023

You can register at:
www.triboro.soccer

This is our new web address, but it's the same registration system from previous years.
Please check out our new website. I’ve created a Soccer 101 Page, with some useful youth soccer info, and also added directions to all of the relevant soccer fields.
We will have in-person sign up in February, exact location/date is still TBD. We will announce in Email, Website, & Facebook when it is scheduled.

For this session, we will have the following divisions: U6, U8, U10, U12, U14, and a combined U16/U19 division. Depending on enrollment, divisions may be co-ed or boy / girl specific.

The registration process will only allow you to register in the specific age division appropriate for your player. If you would like to have your player play up (i.e. in an older division), please contact me directly.

If you are not familiar with the “Uxx” division terminology please see the Soccer 101 area on our website, Lesson #1 explains them and the details of which one your player should be in.

Session Details:

The games start on 4/22/23 and end on 6/11/2023

There will be an evaluation practice the last week of March
Teams will be picked and practices will start first week of April
Those practice dates will depend on weather/field conditions, you will be notified before the evaluation practice with the details.

Boys/Co-ed games will be played on Sundays
Girls games will be played on Saturdays

U6 and U8 Divisions do not require uniforms, a T-shirt will be provided. Make sure to fill out the uniform size portion of the registration.

U10, U12, U14, U16/U19 divisions require a uniform. If you have Triboro jerseys (yellow & maroon) from previous sessions, you may use those. If you do not, please order one through the registration process.
In addition to the jersey, they will need black soccer (or gym) shorts & yellow soccer socks. Both of these can also be purchased through the registration process.

Your player will also need shin guards and outdoor
soccer spikes. It is important that soccer spikes be used. Football & baseball spikes that have a high toe center spike are not allowed. Refs will check before each game that all players have acceptable spikes and shin guards.

They do not need soccer balls, however they are encouraged to bring them to practice if they have one.
Soccer ball sizes are as follows:
U6 & U8 use a size 3.
U10 & U12 use a size 4.
U14/U16/U19 use a size 5.

The U6 / U8 divisions will play in an in-house Triboro league, with practices and games at our Sibley Ave Field.
The U10 and higher divisions will play in the WVFYSA league (formerly the NFYSL), and will have games at various fields in the area.

The season will have 7 games, and have practices once or twice a week in addition to the games.

At the end of the session we’ll have a cookout party for all the participants with food and activities.

PLEASE READ THE BELOW NOTES ABOUT VOLUNTEER COACHING:

Coaching:
Please consider volunteering to be a Coach for this session.
The success of the league is entirely dependent on parents volunteering to coach.

You DO NOT need any soccer background to coach soccer, especially the younger divisions.
MOST coaches in the WVFYSA league do not have any background at all in soccer
This is a recreational league, it is not a highly competitive environment. Most participants are casual players mostly out to have fun.

The only requirement for coaches is they must past criminal background and child abuse checks, complete concussion and safety training, and be patient and understanding with the players.

There are many benefits to Coaching

1. They determine when the practices will be
  2. They have influence in forming the teams
  3. They become more connected with the local community.
  4. If registration cost is a significant issue, I am willing to waive the fee for coaches.

To help new coaches we will have two coach training sessions. These will provide you with the basic understanding/rules of the game, what skills to develop/discourage in the players, full schedule/routines for holding practices, and tips for what to look for during the games.

We will provide someone with a soccer background to help at your first few practices. They will help you implement the drills and routines learned in the coach training.

Coaching is very rewarding, and fun and it’s a great way to get in quality time with your son/daughter.

Please consider volunteering, the more volunteers we get, the more likely we’ll have multiple coaches for each team. Multiple coaches means more flexibility for people’s busy schedules. I’m currently looking for at least two coaches for each team.

Fees & Grants:

If you have a player who would like to play but the registration/uniform costs present a considerable financial challenge, we do have some grants available to help differ the costs. We also have used shin guards, old uniforms, used soccer spikes and some new socks available for free (sizes are limited). Please contact me directly for more information.

If you have any questions, concerns, etc.. Please don’t hesitate to contact me directly (txt/call) or send a message to our Facebook page.

Thanks
