Shrewsbury Little League Baseball and Softball

Welcome to Shrewsbury Girls Softball!

The Twin-Valley League is expected to start on July 13th.  Girls who are not already ASA registered through a travel team will be registered by the league and will then be required to pay the one time registration fee either on line or by check to their coach.

Teams will begin practicing this week or next and you should be hearing from your coaches this week regarding practice and game scheduling.

Shrewsbury Girls Softball’s core goal is to ensure that aspiring young athletes learn the sport of softball in a positive, safe, and supportive environment.  We want to raise the standard of play by providing consistent, excellent coaching, additional playing opportunities, and first-rate facilities.  In addition, we want to increase awareness and participation of softball activities beyond the league, such as attendance at high school and college games and making players aware of non-SLL playing and practice opportunities.

Message from Softball Leadership:

Dear Parents,

I hope that all of you and your families are safe and healthy.  As I walk my dog through Dean Park, carefully socially distancing myself from all the other dog walkers, I can't help but glance longingly at the empty softball field and thinking about the potentially lost season and opportunity for our girls to play softball.  I know for many, softball is just a social activity -- something for the girls to do after school and on the weekends.  At our household, however, softball is the activity around which everything else revolves.  Shrewsbury Little League, high school and travel ball are things we miss terribly.

Per Dave Walker's recent email, the league doesn't have any definitive news yet about the Shrewsbury Girls Softball season.  Of course, we are trying to salvage the season, but in my opinion,  it isn't looking particularly good for the spring.  Even if the spring season is cancelled, we are looking at the potential for a summer (weekday) league and we still plan to have a fall league (virus permitting).

In the meantime, I wanted to remind players and parents that we continue to post opportunities and resources to the SLL website for learning and social distancing playing opportunities.  If your daughter is bored sitting around the house, why not have her get outside with a tennis ball and practice throwing, pitching or even hitting off a tee against the garage door?  There are even some training videos from our clinics under the "player development" link as well as a softball specific workout opportunity.  You can also follow us on Facebook, Instagram and other forms of social media which have long ago passed me by.
