FAQs

What is Monroe Premier FC?

Monroe Premier FC offers competitive level programming and support with the acknowledgment that each league across the United States is different and unique in its own way. The Premier program allows Monroe Premier FC the flexibility to operate without the constraints and/or prerequisites of SAY Recreational Soccer including competitive levels, playing time, roster limits, state boundaries, and geographical sizes and areas.

What is the U.S. Soccer birth year standard and how does that relate to my player?

Back in August of 2017, U.S. Soccer switched to a birth year standard which is used by all FIFA members as part of the PDI (Player Development Initiatives).  Birth year registration is determined by the year a soccer season ends. For seasons that span from fall to spring or summer overlapping across two calendar years, players will register based on their age during the second year of the season. To simplify, an age group can be determined by subtracting the birth year from the year the season ends.

Year Season Ends – Birth Year = Age Group

2020 to 20212009 = U-12

Check out the Birth Year and Season Matrix on page four of the PDIs FAQ [English | Spanish] for more information.

Have coaches been selected?

Coaches for each team are selected at tryouts.  Coaches are volunteers, existing and future head coaches must be certified at a minimum level with U.S. Soccer.  Anyone interested in coaching should contact the Director of Coaching with any questions or concerns.

Can my player play up?

Certainly, we encourage if a player is not challenged to play to a higher level to ensure growth and development.

When does the season start?

Practices will start sometime around the end of July to early August depending on the team.  League games should start around the end of August to early September.  There will be a minimum of eight games, four home and four away, and one to three tournaments per season at the team's selections.  Away games are in the Cincinnati/Dayton area depending on age group.

Where/when will practices/training be held?

Each team will have at least two practice sessions per week.  Coaches may add/remove practices based on game and tournament schedules.  Practices and training will be held at Monroe Soccer Association fields.  Specific days will be determined after team selections.

How long is the season?

Premier is designed for a positive year-round soccer experience for the players and teams.  Primary season are Fall and Spring, winter sessions are dependent on each team winter needs.

Who will my player play?

Regular season games will be against other Premier League, Buckeye League, Elite Players League and MVYSA League teams from the Cincinnati or Dayton area, .  Tournaments are open to all select teams in the OH / KY / IN area and beyond.  Expect to play at least 3 games during the weekend for any tournament.

Why don't you have multiple teams in a single age group?

Most Soccer clubs claim to be "non profit" however they charge high fees for membership, uniforms and even field fees.  We wish to provide a true reflection what the sport really costs, we could have an A,B or C team per age group but we choose to have one team per age group that way if you make the select team you're on the team.  We're not going to take everyone that shows up just to bring in a revenue source and give an illusion of playing for a club.

We really like playing SAY as well can my player take part in both programs?

If a player likes to take part in SAY Recreational, they can still participate with Monroe Premier F.C. to get extra play time.  We encourage a player to take part in both if so desired.  Of course each program is independent of each other so fees are charged per program.

How much will it cost?

Cost for the entire year will be $200 per player which includes registration, carding, referee fees, league games, and training sessions.

**This does not include tournament fees, winter fees or anything done inside the normal soccer Spring/Fall season, those are part of
“Team Fees”**

Uniforms are purchased by the club member from Soccer Village.

What are team fees?

Each team will take part in at least two to three tournaments per season.  The cost to the team to take part in the tournament will range from $400 - $800 depending on the type of tournament and location.  The cost will be broken down per player.  For example, if you have one tournament that costs $550 and there are 15 players, the cost per player is about $36.  Team fees per season should range from $80 to $150 depending on age of player and number of tournaments.  Every player is expected to take part in tournaments and contribute their fair share.  Winter sessions are considered off season and it is up to the coaching staff to decide where to play and will determine the costs, however it's highly encouraged to take part in an indoor game session.
