Little Village Little League

Content

Little Village Little League is a program of the nonprofit New Life Centers of Chicagoland. Our league is a local chapter of the Little League International founded in 2012. The league has grown tremendously since then. Last year we had 250 players and hope to have 300 this year! The goal is to keep young people off the streets and provide them with positive outlets for active play and prosocial relationships in their community. For the past 7 years, the Little League has brought together residents of all ages and allowed the community to unite through sports. Our neighborhood Piotrowski Park hosts practices and games that will give our neighborhood’s youth a baseball experience that will allow them to play and have fun while learning the game in a quality setting. The Little League has expanded to four divisions for ages 4-15 running from April through July.

More about New Life Centers

New Life Centers are neighborhood-based centers that connect youth and young adults with community through mentoring, education and sports. Since 2005, each center has been uniquely designed to respond to the specific needs identified by the community members it serves. Programs include after-school homework help, sports leagues, financial literacy, health education, conflict resolution, community service projects, school conflict mediation services, and educational and court advocacy. Addressing issues such as youth violence, substance abuse, and an increase in high school drop-out rates, New Life Centers targets youth ages 6 to 24 in two demographics: gang-involved youth on probation, and at-risk youth referred through local schools and community agencies. The mission of New Life Centers is to provide mentoring and advocacy to guide youth toward a new life and a new direction.
