CHESAPEAKE SOCCER CLUB

Family. Fun. Soccer.

CSC History

Chesapeake Soccer Club was established in 1990 as an offshoot of the Chesapeake Select Soccer Club (CSSC). The Club, then known as the Chesapeake Advanced Soccer Club (CASC) fielded one team in their first year and grew to five teams by Fall of 1992. Matches were played primarily as adjunct members of the Virginia Beach Soccer Club.

Chesapeake Soccer Club continued to increase its membership, and by 1996 had expanded to eleven teams, comprising nearly 200 players and their families. In the Fall of 1997 Chesapeake Soccer Club was admitted as a recreational club into the Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA), the governing body for youth soccer in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This relationship has afforded guidance and support in terms of medical and liability insurance, coach and player development, and access to administrative and monetary support provided by the US Youth Soccer Assocation (USYSA), the governing body for youth soccer in the United States.

In 1998 Chesapeake Soccer Club began play within the Hampton Roads Challenge League, and established Hickory Middle School as its home playing field. A year later, at the height of membership with over 40 teams in nearly every youth soccer division the Club dropped the "Advanced" moniker from its name and officially became Chesapeake Soccer Club (CSC).

Chesapeake Soccer Club established the Zerious Zoccer at the Zone soccer tournament in 1999, affectionately known as "The ZZZ," which served as a principal fund raiser for the club. The ZZZ served well in further promoting youth soccer as it brought numerous Select and Travel teams from all over the east coast to the City of Chesapeake.

In August 2006 Chesapeake Soccer Club reached an agreement with the City of Chesapeake's Parks and Recreation division, and established soccer fields at the Centerville Sports Complex as the Club's home location. Fields 6, 7 and 8 are still owned by the city, but designated for the preferential use, scheduling and maintenance by Chesapeake Soccer Club.

Chesapeake Soccer Club moved from purely recreational to include an advanced side in Fall 2009 in a sponsorship by Portsmouth Soccer Club.  CSC was accepted as an official participating member of Tidewater Advanced Soccer League (TASL) the following fall 2010.

A new logo was created and introduced in 2013, and officially adopted by the club on May 7, 2013.

In the fall season of 2015, Chesapeake Soccer Club entered its newest division into Virginia Soccer League, VSL.  Named "Platinum", this elite division was comprised of CSC's top teams ready for the next step in competition.  CSC families could now enjoy a higher level of competition, while at the CSC affordability.

Chesapeake Soccer Club began hiring technical trainers soon afterwards to support the development of the players from the very youngest to the highest level of play.  Coach Wendy of Elite Soccer Academies became a club favorite very quickly.  CSC expanded its technical training staff in the fall of 2019 to include Chris Mills, Head Coach of the Men's Soccer team of Virginia Wesleyan University.
