FYLAX attends the Magnolia Pre-Season Tournament

FYLAX Boys 2U, 4U Blue, 4U White, and 6U attended the now annual Magnolia Pre-season lacrosse tournament with mixed results.

The 2U team lead by Head Coach Jason Arias played in their first ever game action on January 15 having much success. The team winning their first two games back to back against Katy and Cyfair ran into a more experienced team with a deep bench in Kingwood. With no break in the action the 2U team moved down to the losers bracket wining against Magnolia and fought their way back to the championship game to face Kingwood. After five hours of straight lacrosse in sub 30 degree Windchill our team of six players fell to Kingwood again finishing proudly in second place. FYLAX will talk of the performance of these Mustangs in there first ever event for years to come.

The 4U White team compromised of all first year lacrosse players took the field in the double elimination tournament excited to get their first game experience. Being slotted in the opening hour of the tournament they not only faced the Cyfair Ironmen but the icy winds circling the field. The Mustang White taking a last second shot to tie the game fell by one. After some hot chocolate and snacks the Mustang White team was right back up taking on the Club Team, the Richmond Grizzlies. The more experienced Grizzlies handed our Mustangs their second loss.

The 4U Blue team took the field and demonstrated selfless lacrosse moving the ball around and handling their first two games against Magnolia and the Woodlands. The deep benched and experienced Katy team gave the Mustang Blue team a taste of defeat moving them to the losers bracket. After a tough battle against Kingwood, the Mustangs found themselves in the Championship against the undefeated Katy team. Down 8-0 into the second half the Mustangs went on a fury of scores but the clock ran out with a 10-6 score and a second place finish.

The 6U team faced some talented teams. After falling in their first match the Mustangs rallied and won their second game. The momentum stalled as the Mustangs suffered their second loss of the day.
