Their Coaching Philosophy
Coach Josh Blodgett
Coach Josh Blodgett has been involved in the beautiful game as a player and a coach for the past 36 years and has an unwavering passion for the development of the game. Josh is credentialed with the USSF national C coaching license as well as the United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeper level 1 and 2 certificates. Josh currently is the Director of Coaches for DCSC as well as the head coach for the HD Elite Men’s reserve team as well as the head coach for the Apple Valley High School Boys varsity team, a boys 2005 silver team, and a 2003 Boys silver Elite team at DCSC. Josh started coaching in 2001 as a U-14 age group trainer for Pride Soccer club in Colorado Springs. Josh has coached at all youth levels of the game and does numerous 1on1 trainings with youth from all over Southern California.
As a player Josh played with numerous select club teams as a youth player up until he joined the United States Army in 1994 at age 19, where he joined the All Army men’s soccer team, comprised of the best players in the U.S. Army Active duty, Guard, and reserves. He is the All-time leading scorer in the history of the Men’s Armed forces soccer tournament, which puts the best players from the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marines against each other. Josh has also been a 5-time member of the Unites States Men’s military soccer team comprised of the best players from all the United States military branches representing the United States in international tournaments in the USA, Brazil, Egypt, Suriname, and the 2015 World Military games in Korea.
Coach Carlos Pena
Coach Carlos Peña is a retired combat veteran with over 29 years of leadership/coaching experience covering such sports as baseball, softball, football, and soccer. In addition, he has contributed his time as the High Desert Sports Correspondent for SoCal Prep Report, a Channel 36 and YouTube based High-School sports show for CIF-Southern California. He is also a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Association, National Soccer Coaches Association, and the National Federation of State High School Association.
A graduate of American Military University, Carlos has earned his Master’s Degree in Sports Management. He also holds a USSF National D License with the U.S. National Soccer system, as well as two National Federation of State High School Certification (NFHS), Accredited Interscholastic Coaches Certification (AIC) and the Certified Interscholastic Coach Certifications (CIC).
He is currently the Girls Varsity Head Coach at Excelsior Charter School. Previous coaching experiences include City of Bell youth sports program; Fayetteville, North Carolina (USSSA); Miami, Florida (SFBL); Fort Irwin military youth sports program; Barstow youth sports program; and SoCal Rush Soccer Club. Carlos has also contributed his experience, effective training methods and leadership skills to the High Desert Elite Soccer organization as Assistant Coach for HD Elite (Semi-Pro).

Coach German Carvallo
Coach German Carvallo is passionate about grassroots soccer. German is the co/founder and director of Desert Communities Soccer Club, an affordable competitive soccer venue for local youth. German is credentialed with the National USSF C Coaching License. German was an assistant coach and the club manager for NPSL team HD Elite. He has coached Varsity Boys and Girls at several high schools. He currently coaches a top flight DCSC team, and is the Assistant Principal at Riverside Prep High School.
As a player, German developed his passion for soccer living in Chile playing in the youth ranks of local 4th division teams. German played intercollegiate soccer with Virginia State University where he received a full ride ROTC and Sports scholarship. German also played in the CVSA Amateur League with Richmond Internazionale FC; he continues to play in local amateur leagues.
German has coached and directed recreational and competitive soccer teams and leagues for youth and adults for over 15 years. German is also a combat veteran, having served in OIF III as an Officer in the US Army. German is all about service. He uses soccer to develop young minds and prepare them for success on and off the pitch, including college or career.
Coach Chris King
Coach Chris King's 2006 girls team is competitive, motivated and most importantly......fun! The girls are trained individually and as a team to understand the entire game of soccer. Though we focus on agility, speed, strength and overall soccer knowledge, we do not forget to enjoy the game!
Our team has fun as a family away from the pitch as well with trips, pro games, holiday parties, mud runs, etc. If your daughter loves the game, is ready to challenge herself, and wants to make new friends for life, contact Head Coach Chris King. We accept all positions for girls ages 2006 and 2007.
Coach Javier Ortega
Coach Javier Ortega is leading one of the newest and youngest team of the DCSC family. Through a comprehensive year round training that emphasizes strength, agility, technical and tactical skills, coupled with a year round competitive environment, he is ready to assist each and every one of his players take their game to the next level!
Coach Ortega's main focus is on PLAYER DEVELOPMENT, with emphasis in the following areas: character development, technical mastery, tactical application (soccer intelligence), and creative play. Coach Ortega is committed to ensuring that all of his players become the best players on and off the field as he builds the best 2012 girls team in Southern California.
